Question regarding level 3 Discord, tag-banner

My Discord is level 3 and I have server invite background and server banner background enabled and set up. But when I click on my tag, it shows up with a gray background but when I click on someone else's tag, that person has a background of the server the tag is from. How does this work?

Am I blocked?

I woke up this morning to find one of my friends has vanished. I know that sounds dramatic, but out of the blue they left a server they used to be really active in, unfriended every one of the server members they were friends with and no one knows what happened.

They didn’t have beef with anyone in the server, they were a moderator there as well and without saying anything to anyone they just left. We're all really worried about them, and wonder what happened so we tried to get in contact.

Now I can send them friend requests, but their profile picture and profile banner are neither showing, and I'm not sure if this means I am blocked or that they deleted or deactivated their account? Is there any way I can find this out? Or any way I can get in contact with them?

They are not in any other servers I am in. I really hope they're okay.

I was invited to a strange server, but the bots are playing DMtarger (Spam).

Someone invited me to a spam bot as a server recovery key, and I am currently being DM-tarred by a spam bot. These spam bots are still being attacked automatically, They cause lag in the Discord app itself, making it

impossible to access Discord

What should I do now??

What legal basis does Discord rely on for scanning private DMs in the EU after the ePrivacy derogation expired?

I want to ask this as a general policy/legal transparency question, not as an account-support request.

My concern is about Discord scanning or automatically classifying private DM attachments for EU/EEA users, especially when the result is a “Child Safety” / CSAM-related false positive.

Imagine this situation:

Two adults are having a private DM conversation about WWII/history.

One person sends a graphic but non-sexual historical/documentary image from Wikipedia - for example, a WWII-era photograph of a murdered adult woman.

The image is disturbing, yes.

But within about 30 seconds, the system appears to classify it under "Child Safety" / CSAM-related enforcement, resulting in severe account action.

  • There is no child in the image.
  • There is no sexual content.
  • There is no CSAM.
  • There is no grooming.
  • There is no solicitation.
  • There is no child sexualization.
  • There is no child-safety issue.

So the issue is not whether Discord can moderate graphic content. Platforms can have rules against graphic or disturbing content.

The issue is why non-sexual historical/documentary content involving an adult victim would ever be classified as "Child Safety" / CSAM-related instead of, at most, graphic content.

Those categories are not remotely the same.

A false "graphic content" label means the platform thinks someone shared something disturbing.

A false "Child Safety" / CSAM-related label can make it look like someone is connected to child sexual abuse, child endangerment, or pedophilia-related conduct, even where there is no child and no sexual content involved.

That is a much more serious implication than ordinary graphic-content moderation.

This becomes even more concerning if the action happens almost instantly in a private DM, because that suggests automated scanning or automated classification of private attachments.

There is also an EU privacy issue here.

The temporary EU ePrivacy derogation that allowed voluntary detection of online child sexual abuse in private communications expired on 3 April 2026. So if Discord is scanning or automatically classifying private DM attachments as "Child Safety" / CSAM-related after that date, especially in a false-positive situation involving no child and no sexual content, what exact legal basis is Discord relying on for EU/EEA users?

I am not claiming to know the full legal answer. That is exactly why I am asking.

But users should not be left with a serious "Child Safety" / CSAM-related label from a private DM, no clear human explanation, and no confirmation whether anything was reported externally.

Discord publicly states that it reports illegal CSAM and grooming to NCMEC. That means a false "Child Safety" / CSAM-related classification is not just a normal moderation mistake.

If such a false positive were reported externally without full context, it could potentially create serious real-world consequences.

The broader questions are:

  1. What legal basis does Discord rely on in the EU/EEA for automated scanning or classification of private DM attachments after 3 April 2026?
  2. Does Discord clearly separate graphic historical/documentary content from actual Child Safety / CSAM / grooming categories?
  3. If a private DM attachment is automatically classified as "Child Safety", does a human review happen before severe enforcement?
  4. Does Discord tell users whether the classification was automated?
  5. Can a false positive in that category trigger external reporting or escalation?
  6. If so, what context is included, and what happens when the classification is wrong?
  7. What safeguards exist to prevent non-sexual historical/documentary images involving adults from being treated as CSAM-related content?

This matters especially for EU/EEA users, where private communications and automated processing raise serious privacy and transparency concerns.

I am not defending graphic content. I understand why graphic historical material can be restricted.

I am asking whether Discord’s current practices around private DM scanning, automated "Child Safety" classification, false positives, and external-reporting transparency are legally and ethically questionable - especially after the EU ePrivacy derogation expired on 3rd of April 2026.

Someone being unblocked without my permission?

I had someone blocked for several months due to persistent harassment and today woke up to find "I see you unblocked me" with about 20 messages. Oddly, they were still on ignore, but I'm absolutely certain I had not unblocked them - I had no reason to and would not have risked it due to the intensity of their obsession. I'm concerned that they will interpret this as interaction and use it as more fuel for harassment. I'm quite alarmed and will be changing my passwords, but I just wanted to check - is there a Discord reason this could have happened? I've had an account since 2017 and never experienced anything like this. Have 2FA etc. enabled and I'm quite careful about not leaving any devices logged in except those in my immediate possession. Feeling quite shaken!

I'm dumb, can someone explain me what's going on?

As you can see, this server has 9 boosts, level 2 requires 7, but for some reason it appears as if we have like 5-6? Why?

It is hard to make friends on Discord

everyone in a server js tends to ignore newer members when they try to say anything, and i mean literally anything. They focus on talking with the ppl that they already knew. It's just really hard to communicate when everyone in server already knows each other and you ended up being an outcast. Not to mention that most (not all) users are toxic these days... I literally said ''hi'' one time and some1 reply with the f-word, I think it was satire but that's not one way to greet some1... In my opinion, the best use for discord was always to invite already known friends to a group chat but i might js be wrong. I'm speaking from personal experiences so i you might not agree and that's totally fine, I js wanted to share some thoughts on the app -v-

What is the best way to expand a server?

Hey everyone! I had recently started a new server and have brought over as many friends as I could! Currently a little over 100 people and whilst it is nice to have everyone, I would love more diversity as I like a more general hangout vibe rather than specific games (last server I had was a league only server). How do you guys personally expand your server or do you normally do it through more natural ways like meeting someone in a game or something like that? Thanks for your time 💕

How do you genuinely make friends on discord in 2026?

The most common advice I see is just to join servers of your interests and talk to people, but that isnt working for me.

I dont know what it is. I say nice things, I compliment people on their art, I try to post funny memes, I respond to conversations, nothing is happening. It feels like its super easy for everyone else except me.

DMs are considered bad for some reason, so its not like I can go there.

What am I supposed to do, just keep talking in servers until I randomly get someones attention or a friend request?

Guests can hear the soundboard but regular members cannot hear it

Hi,

Whenever a guest uses the sounboard they can hear it, but other members in the voice chat can't.

If regular members use the soundboard everyone can hear it.,

Has this happened to anyone before? I have set the voice channel "use soundboard" permission for everyone to 'enabled', so I don't know what's really the problem. The green ring around their icon also doesn't light up when they use the soundboard.

Has this happened to anyone before? Thank you!

Opening Closed DMs without Sharing Any Sort of Connection + Silently

Let's say you want to open old conversations on someone you used to know. Mainly for potentially deleting any sensitive info you might have in there. This could have been 15 seconds ago or a few years ago. And you don't have any sort of way to open their profile UI. So, no mutual servers, not on your block list, not on a pending friend request, and the DM as mentioned is closed/not on your list. Additionally you don't want to have to send a friend request to get the UI open.

This sounds weird, but it makes more sense when anyone can have anything in their home as long as they want. Purely for just getting the UI to open it up.

Firstly, download your Discord Data Package and make sure to select Messages. (There is a chance you might actually already be on this step and saw some familiar usernames, with messages attached to those respective jsons) Once you get it, navigate to

package\Messages\index.json

Personally, what I like to do is replace every instance of ", Yes, double quote comma with a \n for new line. It makes everything supremely readable. You have a list of every id, and who/where it is from. You can natively search their username then to see if you happen to have a connection. DO NOT do this next step if you do. Please double check haha. You will be able to do what you need to then. Otherwise.

EDIT: I thought I mentioned it, but I guess not. You use the number in index.json. Go to the respective folder of the same name. Open up channel.json. Since we're looking for DMs. It will say type DM. In the recipients field, you will see the actual userids. Copy your own userid so you know what is yours and then put it in your memory it for later. You will use the other one for the command below.

Open Discord and go to any available channel. Type

/msg [userid] [literally anything]

The second part will spook you out because it seems like you're going to message them, but it will be completely unavailable. You can test this yourself, really. I did. I have an account that is completely wide open to DMs and using an alt I typed this in with nothing sharing with either. You will receive a Clyde error message that leads to an article. This is separate from message requests. It won't send that. Those are purely for when you do share a server with someone which we don't. This command skips that and is trying to send it as if you already know this person and putting it into the regular bar and hitting enter. The receiving user will not get any sort of notification.

Best of luck

How does this person have a Hypesquad badge if their account was created 4 days ago?

Wasn't the quiz officially removed for stable 9 or 10 months ago?

Could there possibly be a way to merge accounts?

So I’ve been wanting this feature for years now and I have no idea how the discord team can make it happen, I also don’t know if it’s in demand enough to even incorporate it into the app

I have this main account I’ve had since 2017 and I have a lot of chat history on there

In 2024 some stuff happened with me irl that forced me to abandon the account and create a new secret one to talk to my partner and my close friends

I was too afraid to go back to the older one even though I missed it a lot and preferred it because it had a lot of my old chats and I like going back to old conversations when I’m lonely

But I feel like I have to choose between one or the other as a main account

I’m ready to go back to it but I also don’t wanna lose all the chat history I’ve had over the last two years with my friends and my partner

Neither do I want to lose ownership of the servers I’ve created

Both are my accounts, and both have chats with everyone I love

I just wish there was a way where I didn’t have to choose between the two accounts because they’re both important to me and it’s just an inconvenience to go back and forth between accounts if that was a suggested fix to how I’m feeling

I’m just wondering that if you merge two accounts could you possible do it? And how would it look like? Could you have the chats align from the day they stopped and continue like nothing happened? Could you import newer chats I.e the ones with my most recently newfound best friend onto the older account? Could this work in theory? How could the make it work? And would they even consider it? Because this would be a great feature to be honest

To be clear I don’t know much about app development or tech in general

So I have no idea if this is even possible

I’m just very curious and I’m very interested in discussing ideas with other people because it’s fun for me, and maybe if we have enough of a group of people who want the same thing we could bring it to discords attention!
