Marshall’s dad
Follow me along here for a few things . . .
-Marshall is motivated to get a promotion up the chain within NYPD to be like his father. So we know his dad was relatively high up in NYPD.
-When Isabel was found as a Jane Doe, the FBI was on the case, led by Ed and Nora. Influenced by Jay Easton, Ed passed the case to the NYPD.
-Someone from Easton’s camp is still frantically texting Ed to this day about investigations. So it stands to reason that Ed would not have passed the case off from the FBI to NYPD without Easton’s blessing. A guy like Easton is not going to have Ed (who he controls) give up the case for the NYPD if he does not control someone like Ed at NYPD.
-So obviously Easton had someone planted at NYPD—someone high up, who could make the whole thing go away as a cold case. . . . I wonder who that could have been.
Putting on a bit more of a tin foil hat, you can do the math and think that Marshall’s dad would have been in the NYPD in the early 2000s. If he was Easton’s guy at NYPD, when did that start? Could he have come across some terrible things on behalf of Easton in the early 2000s? Could he have encountered a 14 year old girl who was abused, and helped her out? If he did that, would he then want to keep a close eye on that girl going forward (say, by having her walk into the family’s life at 14 years old without any discussion of life prior to that point, become very close to his wife and his son, and date his son for years)?
