Should I look for internships in the US?

For context, I’m 20 years old and almost done university. I’m going into my third year, so I’ll be looking for internships for Summer ’27. I want to try and look for internships in the US, but obviously that’s easier said than done. I just don’t know if I like the direction Canada is headed in anymore. As a kid, I loved this country, but recently I’ve kind of lost that feeling. I’m still super grateful that I was born and raised here, but at the same time, I feel like there are better opportunities in the States.

I also do a bit of ecommerce on the side, and I know I’d be in a way better position just by being in the US. I have a couple buddies down there, and they just have more resources available to them. In Canada, I can feel the limitations. It feels like I’m constantly trying to find loopholes just to be on an even playing field, and even then I’m still at a disadvantage.

So that raises my question: is it worth looking for opportunities in the US and making that transition? Would love to hear from others who’ve made the move from Canada to the US and how it went for them.
