Can I rent a car in Vancouver airport after midnight?

Hi, I couldn't find any information online, and I am unable to call a Canadian number from my European service provider. Could you please tell me if it's possible to rent a car at Vancouver airport around 1:30 am? I will arrive from Europe at approximately 1am and would prefer to rent a car directly at the airport, if feasible.

Thank you and have a nice day!

How do Canadians currently feel about Issac Brock?

I’m from Guernsey, Channel Islands and I’m a massive history nerd so naturally I’ve been obsessed with Issac a couple of times. Living in Guernsey my whole life has made me realise that we really don’t care for him that much despite that he was born in Guernsey.

Over in Guernsey we do have a couple of statues and that but nobody talks about him and a lot of our young people mostly teens have never even heard of him. Which disappoints me since he’s such an amazing guy.

So I’m just really curious if people in Canada still care for him and if so do you do anything to show that appreciation?

Missing Coffee Crisps?

Is it just me, or have Coffee Crisps been harder to find lately. In the past 2 weeks, I have not been able to source one at my local Safeway or 7/11s. I'll try the Dollarama later today.

Should I look for internships in the US?

For context, I’m 20 years old and almost done university. I’m going into my third year, so I’ll be looking for internships for Summer ’27. I want to try and look for internships in the US, but obviously that’s easier said than done. I just don’t know if I like the direction Canada is headed in anymore. As a kid, I loved this country, but recently I’ve kind of lost that feeling. I’m still super grateful that I was born and raised here, but at the same time, I feel like there are better opportunities in the States.

I also do a bit of ecommerce on the side, and I know I’d be in a way better position just by being in the US. I have a couple buddies down there, and they just have more resources available to them. In Canada, I can feel the limitations. It feels like I’m constantly trying to find loopholes just to be on an even playing field, and even then I’m still at a disadvantage.

So that raises my question: is it worth looking for opportunities in the US and making that transition? Would love to hear from others who’ve made the move from Canada to the US and how it went for them.

What do you do about mosquito bites ?

I have about $50 of useless products that dont do much to stop bites from itching. I moved here about 4 hrs ago, and would love some insider tip on what to get/do 😊

Thanks for helping a not-so-new newcomer out !

Should I be concerned about this job as a census enumerator?

Already having issues and I haven't even started yet.

The team leader asked to meet and offered 3 times, of which I was only available for 1 of them. I communicated this. He ignored it and told me to come during one of the other times. I repeated that I wasn't available then because I was volunteering, but that I could take a couple minutes if he could come to the food bank where I volunteer. I explained that they're drastically understaffed and have had funding cut, and the time he wants to meet is right in the middle of their busy rush. He didn't respond at all.

Today he emailed again to just repeat the time and place he originally proposed. It's literally just down the street, but like I said, it's the middle of the busy rush. It would make zero difference to him to meet us all there, but he's stubbornly ignoring my suggestion.

This doesn't bode well for how things are going to go down as the job progresses. He comes across as a self-entitled crusty old white guy who doesn't care at all about women. He got my name wrong when he first called me, calling me by my last name (which is a man's name) - which is like... they put this guy in charge of a team of enumerators, but he can't even read his lists properly to know which is the first and last names? Really speaks volumes to his attention to detail.

I've spoken to previous enumerators where I live who said "never again!" I did it for the 2006 census in Winnipeg and it wasn't that bad, but now I live in the gulf islands and everything here is a different beast entirely.

Anyone have experience? Are these red flags? Should I run-not-walk?

How can unemployment and tfw coexist?

There are currently approximately 1.4 million people on unemployment.

How come we're paying them with taxpayers money to sit at home while also letting people in to the country to fill jobs under the pretext that there are not enough workers here already?

For as long as unemployment is above 2%, we should not let people come in to take their jobs.

If you're an LGBT Canadian, did you tell the census that?

Just wondering how many people felt comfortable telling the gov that they're not straight if they got the long form. Short form didn't ask that.

And did you tell them what languages you know? I know French and English but only put down English.

What do you think is the difference between Canada and Europe?

As this is a continent with a lot of nations, Europe is nowhere near as similar to Canada, given that some countries are more liberal than Canada, some as Liberal as Canada and some are more conservative than Canada

Why isn’t WhatsApp widely used in Canada?

In Brazil, we use WhatsApp for almost everything — talking to friends, family, and businesses. I noticed that this doesn’t seem as common in Canada. Why is that? What apps or communication methods do you usually prefer?

what is the best place to start a new life?

What's the best place in Canada to start a new life?

Me and my partner in our 20's and her few years old child.

We speak English, Polish, and she speaks German.

I'm considering learning French.

We want easy access to healthcare, and in a quiet, non-touristy area, preferably close to nature.

a friendly place for same-sex couples:)

Is French important outside Ontario and Quebec?

I know that in Eastern Canada, especially Ontario and Quebec, there’s often an expectation to know at least some French (like B1 level or higher). But how necessary is French in western provinces where it seems much less spoken, like Manitoba, Saskatchewan, or Alberta?

Is English usually enough there for work, immigration, and daily life, or is French still important? Correct me if I’m wrong.

EDIT: I meant to say, that in WESTERN Canada (Ontario/Quebec) this is kind of expected, and forgot to add that i would be moving to Alberta (Lethbridge) myself soon, and thus why i am making this post, thank you!

How to prevent Netflix from charging my card?

I used to have an active Netflix subscription, but cancelled it last year. I then received an offer from Telus to have a basic Netflix-Amazon-Disney subscription for 3 months at reduced rate.

When I tried to cancel my Netflix subscription at end of the 3 months period, the account said that the my account was being managed by Telus, so I could not make any updates including making sure I do not get charged for next month. However, as soon as the trial period ended, Netflix charged my card for the month of June. I find this practice very unethical. This happened to me second time (I had tried to prevent it by logging into Netflix account before the trial period, but as I mentioned previously, I cannot make any changes during this period).

Also, I cannot remove my credit card details from the account. Either there has to be a credit card or paypal account in the card.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? If so, how did you resolve it?

UPDATE - I was able to revert the charge and remove my credit card by chatting with customer care in my Netflix account. However, I am keeping this post in case anyone has the same issue that I faced.

Do Lobbyists receive money from the government?

Hi folks. I'm confused. I've been looking at the national registry, and it looks like they might get money.

For context, this seems to be a group that lobbied the Ontario Conservatives to expand Toronto's island airport.
