Light Up Navajo: What Is Your Experience

My family and I live at the farthest end of the Chapter. We still don't have electricity, like most folks. With elections coming up, there's been a big push from the Chapter House for us (my neighbors and me) to apply for the Light Up Navajo project. We'd have to apply to the nearest power company, but each application has a $150 fee to submit. I believe there are also additional charges for the survey and whatnot. I'd hate to pay all that just to be given a solar power system with a monthly rental bill. We already have a personal system but no batteries. Even though the chapter promised us batteries after the last ones they gave us weren't the right ones (acid bassed and froze over in winter).

Has anyone applied to the program? If so, what has been your experience? What kind of costs did you pay (if any)? A lot of relatives are asking me questions about it like I know, and I just don't. The Chapter House isn't being helpful.

Old Blue, Rest in Peace

This is a picture I took early this year. Sucks that they got cut down by some yahoo. I first came across Blue back in 2022 after my mom passed. Just walking the trails trying to clear my head and boom. I see this little being poking its head around the bend. The communal whimsy of it all reminded me of my mom. Bundled up in its scarf and hat surrounded by trinkets.

You're my boi Blue
