iPhone 14 suddenly charging extremely slowly after iOS 26.5
My iPhone 14 suddenly started charging extremely slowly out of nowhere and I can’t figure out why.
On Friday night everything was completely normal. Then on Saturday afternoon I plugged it in and noticed it was taking around 10 minutes just to go up 1%.
I’ve had the phone for about 1.5 years. Battery health is at 87%.
Things I already tried:
- Different cables
- Different 20W chargers
- Original Apple 20W charger (A2347)
- Force restart
- Cleaning/checking the Lightning port
- Disabling background app refresh
- Disabling optimized charging
- Restarting normally
The weird thing is:
- the phone instantly recognizes the charger
- it shows the charging icon normally
- but it says “slow charger”
- and the battery also drains faster than usual now
Another important detail:
I tested charging it while basically inactive and in about 21 minutes it went from 41% to 54%, which seems relatively normal. So it feels like the issue mostly happens while the phone is powered on/active.
The phone also does NOT overheat at all.
I’m already on iOS 26.5 and have no updates available.
Has anyone experienced this after iOS 26.5 or know if this sounds more like a software bug or a hardware issue starting to fail?
