Should I update from iOS 16.2 to 18.7.8 or iOS 26.5?

Should I update from iOS 16.2 to 18.7.8 or iOS 26.5?

Hello there,

I have been using the 14 model for a few years now and it is currently at 78% battery health. I am considering replacing the battery at some point rather than buying a new model.

Normally I never update software to avoid wasting storage and preserve battery as I use my phone for basic stuff (music, photos, social media).

However I cannot update or install some apps since I need at least iOS 17 which made me consider updating to one of the 2 options mentioned in the title.

Should I first update to 18 and see how it goes, or straight to 26.5? I have 24GB of storage left, keep that in mind.

I am aware battery will suck for a day or two, but i do not want it to get worse substantiallt forever because of it.

What should I do?

I am not really a tech savvy person, keep this in mind.

Just got the iPhone 14

So this is the second iphone im using, I upgraded from the iPhone se(2) to this and it’s great. The battery life is amazing and everything runs smooth. but I’m having second thoughts since like a price drop and the 15 basically becoming affordable too. Should I sell the 14 I got (it still has 100% battery health since like I barely used it for like 2~3 months now) and get a base model iPhone 15 or maybe even something better. Or would it be a dumb decision cus the 14 isn’t really giving me any problems at all

Iphone 14 display just revived itself

For context, the back panel of the phone is completely broken, along with the camera module. I dropped it in water a few days ago, and the display died the next day. I figured, fixing it wasn't worth it and I thought I'd save some money and buy a new phone. I had an old android that Im using currently. But today which is 3 days after the incident, the display has seemingly revived itself and is working perfectly fine. It's been working fine for about an hour now. My question is, should I trust that it will be fine and switch to that phone, or whether the display damage is a long term issue that needs fixing regardless? Thank you for your responses.

iPhone 14 suddenly charging extremely slowly after iOS 26.5

My iPhone 14 suddenly started charging extremely slowly out of nowhere and I can’t figure out why.

On Friday night everything was completely normal. Then on Saturday afternoon I plugged it in and noticed it was taking around 10 minutes just to go up 1%.

I’ve had the phone for about 1.5 years. Battery health is at 87%.

Things I already tried:
- Different cables
- Different 20W chargers
- Original Apple 20W charger (A2347)
- Force restart
- Cleaning/checking the Lightning port
- Disabling background app refresh
- Disabling optimized charging
- Restarting normally

The weird thing is:
- the phone instantly recognizes the charger
- it shows the charging icon normally
- but it says “slow charger”
- and the battery also drains faster than usual now

Another important detail:
I tested charging it while basically inactive and in about 21 minutes it went from 41% to 54%, which seems relatively normal. So it feels like the issue mostly happens while the phone is powered on/active.

The phone also does NOT overheat at all.

I’m already on iOS 26.5 and have no updates available.

Has anyone experienced this after iOS 26.5 or know if this sounds more like a software bug or a hardware issue starting to fail?

Should i choose the iphone 14 Plus or the 16e?

Need suggestions, in my budget, i can either buy a 14 plus or a 16e. And I'm buying this instead of the 13 pro or other base varients, because I care too much about battery

YELLOW ROLLCALL (rare apparently)

Luvin' my yellow 14 that I got brand new in June 2023, enough so that I just got a new battery put in it a couple of weeks ago. Battery was 85% Health, but I just wanted it done. Not so cheap if you're paying out of your pocket. Was googling about how rare the yellow ones actually are.

Curious if anyone else has one...

iPhone 14 on iOS 18 - thoughts?

Hi All, I recently got an iPhone 14 for a really good deal, and it is on the latest version of iOS 18, I am very hesitant to update to iOS 26, as I’ve heard many horror stories from doing such. When I got the phone, it was on iOS 17 & it showed that iOS 18 & iOS 26 were both available, so I chose iOS 18 until I could do more research.
Note: I did have iOS 26 on my previous iPhone 11, and it was indeed terrible, but didn’t know if there would be any differences in the two phones because the 14 is the better chip, performance, all out better phone than the 11.

iPhone 14 recognizes cable but after a second it disconnects

I tested with two different chargers, but all of them are having this issue.

Full charge frequency

While not fully charging the phone to 100% prolongs the battery’s lifespan, how often should we allow it to charge to 100%?

Even newer models will charge to 100% from time to time even after a charge limit is set.

My iPhone 14 Pro Max randomly shuts down/restarts — analytics showing baseband/modem resets. Any idea what the issue could be?

My iPhone 14 Pro Max has recently started shutting down or restarting suddenly. Sometimes it freezes for a second and then reboots with the Apple logo.

I checked the analytics logs and found repeated entries related to:

- Baseband requested rfs sync via indication
- ResetModem
- PowerCycleModem
- CommCenter: TelephonyBaseband

The logs seem to suggest modem/baseband crashes or cellular subsystem resets.

A few more details from analytics:

- Battery health data in logs:
- MaximumCapacityPercent: 101
- CycleCount: 40
- No major thermal panic entries
- Battery disconnect count is 0
- iOS version: 26.4.2

Things I’ve noticed:
- Happens randomly
- Sometimes while on mobile data
- Signal can occasionally fluctuate
- Device is not overheating badly
- No obvious battery drain issue

From what I understand, this might be:
- carrier/SIM issue
- iOS/baseband firmware bug
- modem/baseband hardware issue

Has anyone experienced something similar on the 14 Pro Max? Did resetting network settings, changing SIM/eSIM, or reinstalling iOS fix it? Or did it end up being a hardware issue?

Would appreciate any help before I take it to Apple.

My I phone 14 plus still has 96% battery health in 2026

This is my I phone 14 plus bought back for my mom in 2022 still the battery is around 96% .don’t worry it’s not replaced or boosted there is a very specific reason for it my mother uses an primary android cell phone which is good and gets the job done so this I phone is kept for days without use so once in a while she takes it out of the closet and charges it and again keep it back so yeah in 2026 I got her a I phone 17 cuz I know she will take care of it the same way she took care of this I phone 14 plus and when I think of upgrading I will just get her a new one which will eventually be new and in mint condition
Now I have been using it from past 15 days getting a battery life for 1.5 day and it doesn’t lack the performance and camera also feels great I did compare from a 16 and 17 it has some changes but I don’t feel around that much
So my question is is this a good decision or idea ??

Have any of you had apple replace your battery and how is your phone holding up now?

iPhone 14 here that needs a battery. Really don’t have the money for a new iPhone right now so I might just get a battery replacement but I am worried about losing my waterproofing when they open up my phone. Anyone have this done with success?
