Pinone and Steam Pinball FX

Hi everyone,

I have been working with a great consultant to help me dial in my virtual pinball machine after installing all of the hardware myself.

He advised me that trying to add Steam and Pinball FX to my cabinet would be a bad idea for two key reasons.

  1. The DMD will reset itself every time and will have to be resized before every game.

  2. The back glass art will not appear on my second monitor at all.

For those who have connected their steam to their pinup popper with a pinone, have you had these problems?

He offers an alternative for running pinball FX, but it relies on joy2key and cannot leverage the accelerometer or the analog plunger. I know the pinone has those things ready to go for pinball fx. He said his config would not allow that.

Thoughts?

CSD Pinone not saving plunger or accelerometer settings…

… but it does save the input and output settings on reboot. It does not fully load the firmware update, but I can play as long as I reset the plunger and accelerometer settings. Phil is trying to help me get it running right, but if you have seen this on your own machine, I would love any advice!

Key mapping issues -CSD/PinupPopper/JoytoKey

Good morning! I am feeling a bit defeated and close to the finish line at the same time.

I am upgrading my cabinet and added a pinone, SSF, plunger and a shaker motor.

I am currently at the button mapping stage and my trouble seems to be conflicting inputs from multiple sources.

USB controller menu shows buttons lighting correctly when joy to key is disabled.

When joy to key is enabled enabled, the right flipper button will open and close the properties window for the usb controller. The button I would use to exit emulators and go back to the desktop will shift the tabs in the usb controller at the top from “testing” to whatever the other tab is. It appears it may be acting as an arrow left. Again, only when joy to key is on.

Moving to the Cleveland software design configuration tool, the flipper, magnasave, and all other buttons register a they are pressed and show up as yhe right button assignments. The only exception is that the buttons I would like to use for coin and launch game are showing up as nudge left and right. I want my nudge to not be assigned to buttons. I am not sure is these nudge labels in the CSD software are just that, labels to be changed to “coin” and “launch” and are just mislabeled, or if they are actually misaligned by CSD to nudge. Very confusing to me.

Finally, in pinup popper, I am able to set keyboard assignments per Phil at CSD’s documentation, but the joycode that he lists do not appear next to the keystroke assignments and remain as “key-“ for all despite having key stroke assignments. His button assignments just do not show.

I feel stuck and hope that others may have seen this.

On open question is whether joy to key is important at all now that I have the new pinone or if it is just creating conflicts. If it is essential, I suspect its mappings may be creating conflicts, but have no knowledge of how to test that except to close the joytokey. When I do, I have no conflicts in the usb controller testing, and the CSD configuration tool also seems to be working.

Can someone point me in the right direction?o

Pinone connection problem

Hello everyone,

I just installed my pinone board and buttons, selonoids, plunger and SESF at first I was able to connect to the board, but some of the co fig options were not opening (outputs, plunger, Etc), I then tried updating the firm where again and that or something else unknown made the computer too communicating with the board or seeing it as a controller.

Has anyone run into this?

How do I fix it?

I tried uninstalling the com ports, but maybe I did something wrong there?

Thank you for any advice you can offer!

Button assignments not working for four buttons

Hi Everyone,

I recently unlocked my virtual pin and connected it with the help of a tech to a new computer. The old machine was an alibaba lock down with 7 buttons on the front of the cabinet and four flipper buttons.

The buttons did the following

then:

Top right: select game.

Middle right button,return to menu

Bottom right: add coin.

Four buttons on the left side were nudge.

When I upgraded the machine I changed the top right to launch ball the middle to start game and bottom stayed add coin.

The flippers stayed the same, but I changed the two previously unassigned buttons in front of each flipper button to left/right nudge.

I had planned to use the front nudge buttons for menu return and return to desktop, but the tech seemed to give up when the assignments did not work. So now those buttons are redundant nudge and I have to use escape key on the keyboard to exit the machine.

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice?

I have pinone parts on the way in a few weeks, but if I could fix this in the meantime it would be helpful.
