Transmission advice, attempt to replace solenoid, or pay to have a transmission from my first celica inspected and installed?

OK so my automatic grs transmission has begun incredibly hard shifts, throwing solenoid d code, most of the time no OD. Very rarely it'll give up 4th and it runs very reliably smooth during, and it'll shift back into 4th if I drop out of it.

I've had two shops refuse service because it's old and there's no service records. The solenoid is 250$, I don't know the state of the rest of the transmission other than it seems overfilled but I can't find any glitter on the dipstick fluid obviously old.

Could use advice, I know it's a wise tale but two shops telling me it'll kill the transmission for good if I attempt repairs got me thinking twice about just having the known good put in for more because I can't afford both if repairs don't help.

Reminder to stay aware and alert.

Almost lost her today, giant deer cadaver in the road, incredibly dark and only had a second to react around a winding highway, was going 50. Downshifted to second to bring the front end up during lift, it barely fit under my bumper missed my oil pan by an inch, and got hooked on my trd muffler and exaust flange, dragged it for a few hundred feet. No damage, even the skids were fine... it's just a mess underneath if you know what I mean. Stay awake and alive all <3
