Is it OK for coolant to stay on “LOW” when cold?

Weird behavior about my 7th gen. I noticed that when my car is cold the coolant is either slightly above/below the “LOW” line and after a drive at normal operating temperature it goes up to “HOT”

I top it up and then within a week or two it reduces back to LOW and stays there again.

I don’t think there is a leak since I would be losing much quicker…who knows? I don’t see any leaks under the car or by the hoses no matter how hard I look.

Is this a normal level for these cars?

Found this Celica for 500USD

It looks good right? A perfect project car no?

The owner says it needs half an engine whatever that means.

Im wondering what engine and parts that is compatible with other cars ?

Because there's almost no way im finding Celica parts

I hope no one buys it before me because the owner is asking for cash and it's hard to get right now

Wish me luck

Using 7th gen linkages on a 6th gen

Unable to find a new 6th gen linkage i decided to buy 7th gen (even used 6th gen are 300+ and the new 7th gen was 40) and they look like they are similar enough (going to try installing momentary).

I will report back with my accessible failure.

I have already had to cut the rubber holding the two together because the hole in the floor is different but I plan on moving it over from my old one

(Pictured is one damaged 6th gen linkage and two new 7th gens)

Update: it did not work, for two reasons
First: the place where the cable mounts to the transmission is other too thick/ the milled out bore isn’t big enough or the bit around the cable is too thick. I think it would be possible to put a cut down the middle of the mount on the transmission so you could slide the retaining tab but reaching in there with the car in the vehicle is impossible atleast as long as the head is on the engine
Second: the “side to side” cable is too long for the transmission , the inner cable is too long so you would have to notch out the suspension tower panel and weld a slightly longer arm on the transmission (or cut and weld the interior side of the cable guess)

That being said if these problems could be fixed then perhaps someone could start making adapted 7th gen cables for 6th gen owners since they are impossible to come by

7th Gen GT Bleeding Procedure

I just changed my radiator (broke), thermostat, and hoses for the first time. Turns out the previous owner was not running a thermostat in the car, yet I never overheated prior.

I followed the bleeding procedure from under the hood and when I turned on my car I noticed that only one of my fans (the one closest to the cruise control) was the one turning on and off. I also noticed that the reservoir was not bubbling either. Is this normal? Do both fans have to turn on before you place the cap and bleeder valve or just one of them?

The temp gauge went slightly above normal operating temperature when I started reving to 3k RPM. After the first time the temp went up, I stopped shut off the car and waited for a bit, but the reservoir started going down and the check engine light turned on.

Are these the hiccups part of the bleeding procedure? Tomorrow when I try again should I just push through if the temp slight goes up? Any advice?

Help Celica Oil Issue need advice

Ok i drive a 2002 Toyota Celica GT, i got it at 93k miles and have driven it for the last 5 years as my daily. My car hasn't shown any signs of leaks or anything like that no trials or nothing on average my oil change intervals are about 2.9k to 3k miles because thats usually around the time the oil gets low. So now i changed the oil on 4/01/2026 and on 5/19/2026 the oil got so low to the point where the oil light flashed i didn't even drive for a minute after seeing the light i pulled over immediately and topped it off with a quart then drove to an AutoZone and filled it up so basically a new oil change i put in about 4 quartz all together and now I'm trying to look for any solutions. I've heard that the 1zz burns oil and i wanted to know if there are any solutions to this, am i overreacting? or should i just keep topping of the oil.

Putting an e153 trans in my st162

I’ve got to convert this e153 to FWD. That part I’ve got covered, but everything after that is a bit confusing to me haha. I haven’t found much info on the swap, but maybe I’m looking in the wrong places. :,)

Does anybody know if there’s a post I’ve overlooked?

Help with buying 1996 GT Conv

Selling started at 6.4 and I currently have them down to 5.7, is that a proper price?
What I know:
219k miles
State there’s no check engine lights
Claims New breaks and New oil.
Picture seems to show that it is still original engine.

I plan on seeing the car in person and checking a lot of stuff but especially the brakes and oil since he claimed it to be new, anything else to specifically look for, any help greatly appreciated!

AC question 7th gen Celica

Hi all, I found a nice 1999 7th gen Celica, only 74000km driven, the owner was an older men who took good care of his car. The only problem with this car for me then, is that it doesn't have the ability to cool the air, it only blows the outside air in. I have tought of a solution which would be to buy a non driveable Celica (from 2002) which has the automatic klimate control. (which is cheaper than buying all the AC components by themselfs)
Now would it be possible to just take the full AC system from the donor car and place it in the nice car or is there no space for these components in the car which doesn't have it from the factory?
I hope this is clear enough for what I want to do and if anyone can help, thanks!

Celina's update

I HAVE GOT THE TRISPOKE!

After the long wait on the market, I found it and drove 6hr up north just to get my hands on them 😍. But to my disbelief, I found a rust hole forming on the driver side. (Not that the car is completely rust free) Im overjoyed yet bothered. This mixed feeling is annoying.🤌🤌

I have no experience in welding but tell me what do you think 🤣

New manual driver question

Hello everyone. I’m new to driving a manual. Recently got myself a 1994 Celica and have been having a blast. I’m curious to know if it’s possible to accidentally downshift into reverse gear. I don’t want to try it and risk damaging my transmission. Every time I downshift I overcompensate and end up shifting into 2nd from 5th before throwing it back into neutral. I would like to know if I need to be worried as I have heard of gear lockout? I’m not sure if my car, as old as it is, would have it. Hoping to find out so I can shift back to 4th a little easier. Thanks!

6th gen celica rust!

Just bought this 6th gen celica 25 year anniversary edition. Everything on it is decently clean besides my back driver side fender. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Apparently it’s rusted up around the red circle. The ragged part is bondo from the previous owner.

Is it worth salvaging

I'm kinda devastated at this point. I bought this 5th gen recently and was excited to work on it since it seemed like the previous owner neglected it. While working under the car I noticed the "repairs" on the rocker panels, but left it alone untill today. I decided to rip the bandaid off.. and its bad. I don't know if its worth repairing, and I definitely won't get what I paid for if I sell it.

I'm equally mad at the attempt to repair it. If it were left alone it probably wouldn't be this bad, all that foam just traped more moisture.

If I were to repair it, where would I even start? I have a welder and a will, but if it's scrap then I would like to not waste time on a sunk cost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm hearing clunking noise in the front when going on rough road or bumps

2001 Toyota Celica GTS For context I have replaced shocks and struts front and rear, sway bar links front and rear, front control arms with the ball joints replaced as well and replaced sway bar bushing in front and rear and I'm still hearing clunking more now on the driver side. What could be making the noise I'm pretty sure there not much else I can replace?

I really would like some help figureing it out since it has to be suspension right? It wouldn't just be my motor mounts right?
