Specific UC preferences

A buddy of mine showed me a UCSD link that showed what they want on there’s campus like what they look for when reading applications. If you have a dream school in mine for example ucsd would it be worth while catering to that schools preferences in your PIQs?

For the reccord this is the link: UCSD admissions

Where to put independent study

I already mentioned it in my PIQs very little like a sentence but not that I studied it independently. But from sophomore summer to now I’ve been studying Japanese and took a college level Japanese class. It’s something I’m passionate about learning about but I don’t have room for it in my PIQs. Is it possible to put it in activities? Is this sort of thing helpful with my application? For the record within that time I got my self to basic reading and able to write simple conversations and understand phrases such as how are you doing and respond to it or asking for directions nothing huge but when I look at it I have all the hiragana, katakana and 300+ kanji memorized I feel like I should fit it in somwhere

Anyone know how to get good feedback on PIQs to make sure they are great

Obviously theirs piq work shops at my school and teacher and counsulors but other than those because I have already finished my PIQs I want feedback and work shops haven’t started and teachers and counsulors are busy.

How many units of college classes is a high amount compared to others

Currently a senior and by the end of my first semester of senior year if I pass my classes (all have been As and Bs so far) I would have 36 units done. Is that a competitive amount. I don’t like AP testing so I focused on DE instead. Good or bad choice? (I’m unsure if these classes count as rigorous)

Classes are:
health
History
Geology
Bio
English
Afro studies
Econ 1 and 2
Econ history
Japan001
Political science

Rising HS snr looking into CSUSM

Hey, I have decided to apply to schools within the radius of SD and San Marcos came up on my list. However it’s hard to find info on campus life, social, if SM is good for Econ and other stuff of that nature. Could any students give me an insight to these I would be dorming or living within 45 mins.

How do UCs see early graduation

Rising senior I have accelerated my credits and requirements to graduate such as

- 4 years of math
-4 years of English
- 3 years of science
-Econ, ethnic studies
-3 years of history
- all credit and even more than required

This was all done with transferable college classes in-fact I could have graduated at the end of jnr year but the forms my counselor had to submit were due already. With that do UCs look at this in my transcript as there will be no 2nd semester snr year. Will they notice it in my transcript or should I mention it on PIQs and is it possible to state it at all in other parts of the application. My college counselor said she knows little about it as most kids don’t take this route and prefer their “senior experiences” over a semester to work and save money for college. She said I should do more research if they care. Has anyone experienced this or knows anything?

What says more about a students courses APs or college classes

These two are always compare I have a decent chunk of college classes being done and already done however kids who do APs consider them superior regardless if you pass the test for not. For me though College classes give a more broad range of subjects and more importantly major related subjects. While some argue that APs show more advanced course work due to you having to get a good class grade and AP test grade. Both give an extra point and both impact your grade book the same. What do you think?

Application recommendations

3.5 UC gpa with 28 units of CC concurrent enrollment done CC gpa is a 3.4 shooting for UCSD how likely is that to happen and what other colleges are reliable or a reach. Interested in Econ Bs or Ba depending on what’s offering in schools.
