How do decide what's next?

So, first a bit of context. I have a website and some organic users, some new and some returning. But what to do next? I am not earning anything currently. My website isn't holding a very valuable feature yet. So, I want to make some new features, some new tools. I have time currently too. But every keyword I search is already filled with competitors who are there before me. I don't have enough backlinks to rank among them organically. Neither is there much demand. I can't decide what to build next. I tried getting feedback from my current users but they ain't having enough free time to even press a yes or no on "was it helpful" popup.

I tried reading some blogs. But most of them are just marketing focused, or questionable, like some random generated AI blog who have no idea what it's talking about.

So, reddit users, my fellow redditors, how do you decide what to do next? what to build next?

Does referring platforms work?

I recently found out that there are websites that refer you to jobs. Can't mention the names due to the rules though. So, have any of you tried them or had any success?

When Should I start Charging My Users?

So, I have a website and I am currently keeping my features free entirely. There's no limit and truthfully, the only reason I can do so is because I don't have a huge traffic currently. But lately, I have been wondering: should I make my service paid? I mean, I am getting organic traffic mainly on one of my pages and I am thinking of making the feature on that page as paid only. But I don't know if I should do it now, or after I have more traffic, or how I should? Like should I put a limit as for more than three usages, you need to pay, or make it entirely paid. I am getting returning users too.

I got 53 new users, 5 returning users, 40 seconds average engagement time and .425 bounce rate. This is the data over last week where I have not even been marketing my website on reddit posts and have only started in the last 12 hours where I slept for 8 hours too.

Edit: this above user data is from Google analytics. I checked and found that actually, most users (70-90%) are using the tool multiple times, just they don't leave and thus aren't being counted as returning users. I have people who used the tool 7-9 times in two visits. So, a

So, I was making this project which has been completed due to help from many individuals from this community. And thanks to them, I launched my tool recently. And now I have been trying to get my first user. The problem is, I can't find any.

Then I found another tool which was like my tool but addressed the part which my tool missed along with having users. And it's UI was better and it got a good impression from me. I realised it just now that its UI actually reduced friction.

So I am thinking of improving my UI to recreate this feeling with visitors on my website. (The tool's directly available on the website without any wall between it so there's no friction. Rather, I am talking about my header, footer or other elements which are just below average in looks.) I am also thinking of adding other features which my potential users are complaining about.

I just don't know if I should get some users first, or make one or two features to make my tool more attractive.

Have you been in this situation? What did you do?
