Cold snap has me rethinking my battery choice before I sign anything
Was pretty much decided on Fox until this week. There’s a good writeup on SolarQuotes about it but the short version is some batteries have a heating element built in that stops the cells going sluggish in cold weather and Fox skipped it on some models to hit a lower price point.
What got me was the owners wrapping their batteries in rockwool and glad wrap. Fox’s own guidance warns improper insulation can cause thermal runaway and that you assume all associated risks. Hard pass.
Going back to my installer to ask specifically which batteries have cell heating as standard. Anyone been through this recently? What did you end up going with?
