Struggling to date a secure man
I have been dating this man for a couple of months now. He is incredibly sweet, always shows up, and is very consistent. Whenever we're together, he is fully present—he barely checks his phone and gives me his full attention.
The challenge is when we're apart. Texting just isn't his communication style. He genuinely enjoys his own company, and before we met, he had been happily single for over 10 years.
I've started to struggle whenever we're apart for a couple of weeks. He can go a few days without texting me, so I usually end up reaching out first. When he does reply, it's often hours later, but he responds as if everything is completely normal.
I've never dated someone like this before. I know that constantly seeking reassurance through texting probably isn't healthy for me, and I'm genuinely trying to work on becoming more secure.
Do you have any advice on how I can navigate this? More importantly, how can I work on myself so I don't rely so much on constant communication for reassurance?
