So, this adaptation is interesting to me because it seems to be marketed as a twist on the classic story, but it looks fairly straightforward outside of Depp’s performance (more on that later). The movie around Depp looks well cast, well adapted, and interesting. McKellen as Marley is perfect, all the performances look great, and the filmmaking looks fun and dynamic.

Now, let’s talk Depp. This performance feels in a similar vein to his Wonka, a classic British character twisted up by Depp into his own take. The problem with doing that for Wonka is there’s only one Wonka before him on screen. There have been endless great takes on Scrooge in a classic style, so I’m actually okay with it here (I’m even coming around on Depp’s Wonka in comparison to Chalamet’s boring take uggg, anyway this is about Scrooge not Wonka, also I’ve heard less than stellar things about Depp as a person, I’m only talking about his acting).

Anyway, I went from disinterested in this adaptation to very intrigued and now I’m even planning on catching it in theaters!

What are your thoughts on this adaptation? Will you see it?

saw people on a pop culture sub talking about how Elliot Page isnt getting roles cuz he’s short and like, first of all that’s a transphobic af comment but also

APPLE BOXES

(wooden boxes of various sizes that actors stand on to match heights for camera angles and blocking and stuff)

if you’re going to discuss filmmaking and its industry know how it works, there’s a reason Tom Cruise is a pretty short guy and it hasnt meant a thing for his career, so no, Elliot Page’s height means absolutely nothing in this conversation but they haaaaaad to bring it up because god forbid a trans guy be short

ironically in being transphobic they missed the headline that he’s not getting called for roles because of transphobia in the industry

it was very frustrating and i had to get this outta my system

also, Elliot Page rules and deserves more work in hollywood and i hope he gets it

ive tried everything and the “Extras” button doesnt appear, im on iphone, even other movies with itunes extras has them! anyone have this issue too? or a fix for this issue? im so frustrated!

I love this mode!! I just started it for the first time because I missed playing Pikmin after binging (most of) all four mainline games a while back (I beat Pikmin 1 in exactly 30 days getting every ship part at the last minute, then I didn’t finish 2 because it just didn’t hit the same as 1, then I beat 3 and then the main story of 4, I still have the rest of Shipwreck Tale, the rest of the post-game, and a buncha side missions in 4 lol), and it’s a delight! I love that it’s basically a retelling of Pikmin 1 in terms of story and mechanics, but pulling things in from 4. I also love playing as Olimar again and hearing is thoughts each night. My only gripe is the design of the ship parts, they look okay but why so many repeats? Just use the designs from Pikmin 1! Anyway I’m having a blast. I missed Pikmin so much, this franchise is still so underrated. I hope a Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4 is real someday, I’d love even more content! Maybe Bingo Battle returns with full online and local play? Maybe a new side story similar to Shipwreck Tale but starring Louie and/or the reboots of Alph, Brittany, and Charlie (whose new names I forget)? I’d take anything these devs wanna add! Woohoo!! Pikmin!!!
