For those who recently bought a watch overseas (in my case Paris), what was the process like going through customs in the U.S.? I have global entry. Will you get asked by an agent? Is the info readily available due to having submitted vat info upon departure? Are tariffs truly 39% for Swiss made carrier watches? Watch is question is a SS must, so relatively inexpensive compared to other luxury goods… I’m happy to pay 3%, but 39% is ridiculous and makes me regret purchasing overseas.

My husband and I will be in Paris next week and I plan on purchasing my first watch! I made an appt at the 13 rue de la paix location however the only time slot they had is one hour before our dinner reservations… it’s doable, but cutting it close. Should I try to walk in earlier in the day? Or are appointments absolutely necessary? I’m pretty sure about the model I want but still want to try on my top 3 to be sure.

Any signs that the heatwave in Paris will break by next week?
