My Honest Criticism Regarding YMS' fixation on movies not recommended for the Podcast

There have been at least 2 Instances, where Adum mentioned Castration Movie, and The Love that Remains on the podcast, when they were talking about other movies. The way he came off about them, wasn't just a single comment 'Oh I liked X film I saw recently', but rather he keeps reiterating about them at any chance when discussion isn't about them.

I am going to be honest. I think its one of those things that genuinely annoys me not in a way that is him loving the film (which is fine), but the fact that this feels like it is both making it more tense and harming the discussion, in a ways where he comes off as rather disrespectful towards the hosts who recommended their films, that they wanted to watch. Its one thing to mention it once, but Adum has a habit of almost rubbing it in their noses, almost making the other hosts feel bad for not recommending the film. I wont even get to discussions where he was uninvested, and made several discussions stiff as a result, such as Rogue One. Its sincerely incredibly disrespectful to other people.

What really motivated this post, was a similar experience I had on his recent stream, where I misquoted the film The Love that Remains as 'The Time That Remains' saying I didn't love it, and he was quite rude to me because I made one mistake in the name, and even when I gave my explanation, and said that I felt like he was rude, he went 'you are taking this conversation way too seriously' and 'if you found my response rude you shouldnt be in the chat'. Excuse me??? Me explaining my POV, and feeling genuinely upset over his rude comments is 'taking this conversation way too seriously'.

This is coming from a person who is supposed to be open minded about other POVs? I am sorry, but its a recurring pattern, and his defense of 'I have autism' is not an excuse of not being respectful to other people.

Her Private Hell

Watched NWR's newest movie and kinda loved this. Its definitely a surprise, given the amount of hatred for it at Cannes. Its very NWR, and in my opinion a lot more than people seeing it make it out to be.

Refn as a director has been kind of interesting to me. I strongly liked Drive and Neon Demon, and even appreciated Only God Forgives, which I somewhat expected to dislike and it still shockingly connected a lot more to me than I expected.

Refn in general to me is a very symbolic and fairly precise filmmaker. I remember not really connecting with films like Days of Heaven where there is a very strong priority style over substance, but Refn to me somehow manages to also give me something to think about, something to chew on, and his films rarely leave my mind. His style to me always felt incredibly unique, purposeful, and Her Private Hell not only reinforces that, but it was just a really good time watching it (I understand if y'all disagree). Even if I fully expect people to hate it.

Go see it if its playing near you!
