Feedback on Jazz Progress

Hey everyone, I posted in this subreddit about a month ago and got some great feedback. I have been keeping at it taking suggestions and feedback in mind and moving forward.

For context- I have been playing guitar for about 15 years. Semi professionally for about 4 years and looking to keep going.

I have been learning jazz for about the last 5 months.

This is improv over Four over Six. I appreciate all feedback and suggestions you might have. Wondering if I should try/ or am good enough to go to a jazz jam.

This was improv and know these changes pretty well. I haven’t learned the head and am wondering if I went and called a tune if they would want me to play the head or how that works. Thanks again!

Is 5 weeks enough time to plan a trip to Japan?

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are both teachers in California and had some things up in the air up until recently. We now have those things smoothed out and we have time to travel this summer. We are both fairly new to traveling and are wondering if 5 weeks an away is enough time to plan a successful trip to Japan. We would be there four 10-12 days. Are there too many reservations needed ahead of time? Things like reservations / accommodations / train tickets/ attractions.

Also is there alot needed to know before traveling? I read a few things that have left me a bit confused. 1) I read somewhere that I should fill out a form for getting into the country but for the life of me can't find the name of it 2) I have heard conflicting reports on how to get money. Should I have yen? USD? I thought I might need a card specifically for travel? 3) Is it easy to navigate to Japan? Like if we wanted to travel from Tokyo to Osaka? 4) Is an Esim a physical SIM card I need to buy? 5) is Airbnb reliable?

I am terribly sorry for all of the questions, but I feel a bit lost just from the research I have done.

Looking For Feedback!

Hey all- been working at tackling some standards. Here is some Au Privave at a tempo that’s just out of comfort for me- but getting there.

Working on phrasing and vocabulary and tackling those quick 2-5-1s. Wanting to hear about what more experienced people/players are hearing.

I can be extremely hard on myself in terms of it sounds like jazz or even sounds good. Thanks in advance!

New to Jazz

New to jazz and will be for sometime. Been loving the listening and all the challenges that come with playing. Trying to get better at phrasing.

Hey everyone this will be my first year teaching 8th grade U.S. history. I am pretty lost when it comes to planning a lesson on Indigenous tribes/peoples and would love any recommendation on where to start when it comes to planning this unit. Our textbook and material overall is fine- but its information and guidance on this topic is horrendous. Does anyone have a unit they would mind sharing?

I’m a guitarist who plays and practices pretty consistently, and I get hired for a variety of local gigs. Music is a big part of my life—but I also work a regular 9–5.

For the last ~6 months I’ve been studying jazz seriously with a teacher, and I’m at the point where I really want to start a trio or start hitting jazz jams.

The issue is… I’ve got some pretty bad imposter syndrome around it. I think a lot of it comes from not being “full-time” in music. Like I don’t feel legit enough to step into that scene yet.

Curious—are there people here who work a day job and still play jazz gigs or sessions at night? How did you get over that mental hurdle and actually start putting yourself out there?
