Job Opportunities?

Hey everyone! I have lived in Chico for 2 years now and I have a steady full-time job but it is in a field I have no interest in and I never get time off and it is really running me down mentally. I have heard a lot about how hard it is to get a job in Chico so I am scared to leave and try something new, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any place hiring (full or part-time)? I am interested in film, art, animals, and have experience being a receptionist, assistant, and with animals. Or if anyone has any tips on how to find a job better suited for me I am open to suggestions! I have already emailed every art gallery and dog shelter in the area and have had little to no luck. Any advice helps! Thanks!

Chico PD shares AI powered traffic camera feeds with ICE!

I just heard about this on the radio this morning and couldn't believe it. Our traffic cameras are AI powered and being used illegally to spy on our everyday lives by ICE. Why are these cameras even allowed? And why isn't everyone angry about it?! It's a huge privacy invasion. I'm furious!

Available work?

I’ve been searching for a job for months and haven’t had much luck at all on Craigslist or indeed.. seems like everything available has way too many qualifications required and the jobs with minimal qualifications have TONS of applicants. If anyone has any helpful tips or resources it would be greatly appreciated and you’re more than welcome to DM me!

Me-n-Ed’s Pizza

Hey there folk, I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a pizza similar to a Me-n-Ed’s around here? It’s a pretty popular chain in the SJ valley, it’s got like a cornmeal coated crust and it’s thin, if you’ve had it you’d know it’s good. Just wanted to know if you’ve guys had anything similar up here. Thank you.

Buffalo Bills fans?

Any Buffalo Bills fans in Chico? I feel like Bills fans are pretty rare here, so just wondering if there’s a community of us that I’m unaware of!

Jet ski from Chico to Redding

I’m starting school in Chico but I’m from Redding and plan on going back and forth quite a bit. I hate driving on the freeway, how possible would it be to get a cheap jet ski and take it on the Sacramento River back and forth? Do you need a license for a jet ski and how long would a trip take?

Sensory Friendly Shopping and Navigation

So my partner and I just moved to the area saturday, and so far I'm extremely overwhelmed by the business of this place. For context, I'm autistic, high functuoning in general but extremely easily overwhelmed by crowds, noise, and too much stimuli in general. I come from lake county, where the only town with a population above like 5k is Clearlake, which is its own mess. we moved here hoping to find somewhere relatively quiet with more to offer, and i was hoping itd be a good compromise between small town and major city. That said, since moving here ive found myself extremely overwhelmed by the pace of the city, particularly the driving and grocery shopping. For context, I live along West East Ave, which initially seemed like one of the quieter parts of town, but now im not so sure.

So far the driving is, if chaotic, manageable as long as i stay away from downtown? but id love any tips on how to navigate safely and which areas to avoid or prioritize. i want to be able to walk, bike, and use public transit, but there's limited amenities within walking distance, i still dont feel safe biking here, and i still need to learn how to actually use the bus system (if anybody has any reviews or recommendations there id love to hear them).

The biggest issue is the grocery shopping. So far ive been to trader joes and grocery outlet, which i knew going in were both busier stores. but just, holy shit theyre so fucking crowded and overwhelming, i dont know if i want to cry, puke, or jump into moving traffic. Where i grew up ive only ever seen stores so busy the night before a major holiday, maybe occasionally at the wrong time towards the start of the month. So my most important question here is, where and when can i go shopping that doesnt make me want to peel my face off? particularly anywhere accessible to where i live without having to drive through the more hectic parts of town?

any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

Small Catering Businesses

hi all, was wondering if anyone is able to recommend places that do catering, specifically for small get togethers/tea party vibes. Was originally looking into Tin Roof but haven’t heard anything as of yet. Would most likely prefer small/family owned or cost friendly but any recommendations is appreciated!

Bus from Redding to Chico replaced with Redding to Orland

The Amtrak thruway bus line followed highway 99 from Redding to Chico and down to Sacramento. Was very convenient for someone living in Redding and going to school in Chico. It has now been replaced with a bus line down I5, stopping in Orland and Williams. The quickest route now by bus from Redding to Chico is 4 hours (stop in Orland and take a bus from Orland to Chico) where it used to be an hour and a half. They must have saved 15 minutes on the bypass?

Very convenient for all the traffic going to Orland and Williams.

Missing cat in Cal Park

Hi friends - long shot, but our boy got out last night and we are desperate to find him. We are in the southern Cal Park area, off of Yosemite and Idyllwild. Please let me know if anyone spots him!

Daycare Rants and Raves?

What daycares do you recommend in the area? Any we should steer clear of? Thinking of either Acorns to Oaks, Parkside, or Creative Scholars, but having a hard time choosing.

Anyone wanna come swim and drink with me?

Found out on Friday my husband has been cheating on me, need a buddy(or buddies) to drink and talk about life with by the pool. I don’t want to fuck anyone, by the way. At least not until I’m divorced. Just a 27 yo woman trying to establish a new life/way out of this mess. I’m not picky if you’re old, young, boy, or girl. Only requirement is an optimistic baseline with the ability to be pessimistic about everything that’s wrong with this world! If your crazy matches my crazy, hmu!

Clothing donation spots that aren’t Goodwill

What are some places that accept clothing donations in Chico? I’d love to find places to donate that make a positive impact in our community. Goodwill isn’t it.

Missing Budgie (yellow)

My budgies have learned how to open their cage and broke out. I came home from a friend's place and my yellow bird Speckles flew right past me and out the door before I could shut it. If you find here, please let me know :(

Did anyone go to that K-pop circus thing in oroville?

I’ve been getting these AI ads for it non stop for the past week and it shows no real pictures of it or past events. It looked like it was gonna be janky as hell and I had no intention of going but I’m definitely curious if it was as lame as I assume it was.
