On May 23rd 2025 I went to protest a Republican fundraiser held at the Lakeside Pavilion (owned by CARD). While there, I was lied to and verbally and physically threatened by representatives of CARD. When I initially arrived I was told by someone from the event that I could protest but would have to do it from Bruce road. I argued that while CARD owns the event space they do not own the parking lot that is shared with other businesses and Enloe. While arguing with this person I was threatened and physically pushed by someone named Luis. At one point he also drew his arm back to punch but someone from his side stopped him. A little while later, Dave Donnan (CARD board member) threatened to kick my ass and bull rushed me, pushing me back with his chest. Again, someone from their party removed him from the situation. At no time did I make any threats or initiate physical contact with anyone.

I then moved from the sidewalk area to the parking lot road. After some time passed, Annabel Grimm (CARD general manager) arrived and told me that CARD owned the entire parking lot and that we had to leave. I told her it is a shared lot and not owned by CARD, and then pressed her for the property lines for the Lakeside Pavilion property. She amended her original position and then started vaguely pointing to their property line on one side of the building and then she pointed to the other side and said "It probably starts..." and I stopped her right there. Saying "probably" means she didn't know where the property lines were and was guessing. This was twice that she lied in an attempt to stifle my right to protest. I have since received the property details through FOIA and she was indeed lying.

When the police arrived, they acknowledged that CARD couldn't remove me from the lot and instead directed me to move about 50 feet away from our position to the Enloe property. While I could have contested this (Enloe has reserved parking spaces outside of "their" parking lot), it wasn't going to be worth it and I moved. That was the end of our interactions. This seems to violate CARD's code of ethics protocol. Specifically:

• I make impartial decisions, free of bribes, unlawful gifts, narrow political interests, financial and other personal interests that impair my independence of judgment or action.
• I will avoid actions that might cause the public or others to question my independent judgment.

I have emailed the board members a few times and have been ignored.

Edit: People who can't control their temper should not be running kids programs or representing the city in any way.

1. Boost pro-democracy social media posts (upvote, comment, share).  
2. ​Boost pro-democracy websites and businesses by clicking on their link in the search results and not the ad. This will save them money and boost them in search results (you can also do the opposite with pro Trump websites and businesses).
3. Boycott and/or protest the US in international competitions. The World Cup and the Olympics are good examples.
4. ​Boycott local businesses and national businesses supporting MAGA. Also, leave online reviews for companies on the boycott list. For example, "I am afraid to buy a Tesla because of all the vandalism."
5. Contact your government officials using 5calls.org, Resistbot, and/or Fax Congress. Use these resources to help you with your message: Guided Letter and Operation Sunshine.
6. Create a Military Member Mail Campaign: Send in letters/flyers that remind military members to honor their oath of enlistment. "Just following orders" is not a defense in court.
7. Create a Police Department Mail Campaign: Send in letters/flyers that remind police officers of the 4th Amendment and the 5th Amendment.
8. Create local clubs for self defense (example from Chico).
9. Create or participate in liberal gun clubs: Liberal Gun Club Directory and Socialist Rifle Association Directory.
10. Divest from companies that support this administration. Move your investments into ethical or fossil-free funds (ie. Ethic Investing) or to democratic funds (ie. DEMZ Fund).
11. "Don't" abuse the system and apply for GOP jobs. That could overwhelm their system and make it difficult to hire.
12. Don’t give traditional media ad revenue. Use Firefox with an ad blocker like uBlock Origin when viewing media from news stories.​ 
13. File a complaint with the SEC regarding market manipulation (insider trading) through tariffs.
14. File a complaint with your state Attorney General (post with more information). Here is the link for California.
15. File a whistleblower complaint with Senate Democrats. Also see 
16. Fund state-level resistance infrastructure.
17. Help ensure election integrity: volunteer as election workers, back up your vote, stay near voting sites after voting to counter anyone interfering with voters, reach out to the international community for election monitoring, and donate to https://electiontruthalliance.org/ and/or https://www.aclu.org/.
18. Keep messaging items with you for when you are out in your community: sidewalk chalk, flyers, stickers, rock art, US currency (it's legal), washable window markers, etc.
19. Learn about logical fallacies to help keep discussions productive (website and images of cards).
20. ​Leverage international media and watchdogs. Feed the real stories to Al Jazeera, BBC, PBS, The Guardian, Reuters, etc.
21. Participate in the ​General Strike.
22. Participate in Lysistratic Nonaction or a Sex Strike.
23. Provide tracking information on key politicians so that protesters can plan counter events.
24. Reach out to your friends from marginalized communities for support and/or positive chats.
25. Report churches that engage in politics.
26. Request access to you personal data obtained by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk.
27.  Serve on jury duty and engage in jury nullification when appropriate. They can arrest us but they cannot convict us.
28. Request the Supreme Court to revoke presidential immunity.
29. Search online for “petitions against Donald Trump.” Some are listed below.
30. Send mail to politicians. Benefits the USPS and the politicians' offices have to process the mail and is more difficult to ignore.
31. Shop at boycotted stores and immediately return the item. It slows down their service and costs them money.
32. Slow down ICE by being a decoy: add international stickers and/or flags to your vehicles.
33. Support pro-democracy groups through funding or volunteering.
34. Use services that obfuscate browsing data and protect users from online surveillance and tracking by advertising networks (ie. AdNauseam and TrackMeNot).
35. Use your platform to educate the public on rights and resistance tactics.
36. Withhold/Delay Paying Taxes: Reduce your withholdings and delay paying taxes until the due date or beyond (request extension). See the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee and TaxStrike for more information.

• We started a police complaint drive against the chief of police: we have turned in over 70 complaints and are continuing to collect more from the community.

Edit: and you can sort by amount so you start with the big offenders.

Edit: sometimes they list themselves as self-employed. In that case, do a web search "xxx name owner in xxx city" to find the business.

When the business is listed, do a web search of the business name and the donor name. Make sure they aren't just an employee there and are an owner or CEO.

Banning Flock and other AI camera systems in Chico should be at the forefront of the next local election.

In December of 2025, Chico Unified School Board (CUSD) members voted to sign a $2 million contract with Riverside Technologies Inc. using Verkada (AI) technology in all local schools. It has come to light that they knew they screwed up with this vote. Parents, teachers, school staff, students, and community members spoke up for months against this contract but the school board members pushed it forward anyways despite all of the warnings about Verkada: 

• They have a history of using their own cameras and data to harass female employees
• They are already under federal government oversight for data breaches and for violating the CAN-SPAM Act (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) If you want to better understand the dangers that AI-surveillance poses to our children, please check out the research and reporting from the American Civil Liberties Union (ALCU). The AI-surveillance isn't just in the cameras: it is also embedded in all the computers at every school. This means your child is being tracked and watched every time they use a computer at school.

In the spring of 2026, CUSD voted to only use the AI-powered automated license plate reader (ALPR) function of these new cameras. However, it is now coming to light that the Chico Police Department granted ICE and border patrol access to its ALPR data. CUSD can also share its ALPR information with law enforcement putting our children, school staff, and teachers at risk. 

This is why we must protect our children and our community by keeping AI-powered security cameras and surveillance technology out of our local schools! Protect our kids!
