Dear Cyclists on American River Trail...

Please follow trail etiquette. The trail is explicitly marked that runners and pedestrians must keep to the left, facing oncoming cyclist traffic. When passing, cyclists cut to the inside of the trail, and everyone else cuts to the outside. If there is not room to pass due to a crowd, please slow down. These rules are basic etiquette and are consistent with most paved/laned trails in California.

I almost got hit 3 times today on a long run by oncoming cyclists who tried to cut to the outside rather than the inside. One of them gestured that I was on the wrong side, which I was not.

Sincerely, a runner and fellow cyclist.

Back To The Corner Store

Roads? Where we're going, we'll have a corner store down the street.

Sacramento just proposed some zoning code changes which would help achieve a more financially resilient, walkable, and livable city! Here are some of the most exciting things the proposal would allow:

  • ✅ 3-story apartments anywhere
  • ✅ Starter homes arranged as bungalow courts
  • ✅ Commercial uses allowed in neighborhoods

These are all important steps towards ending the Suburban Experiment, but we think the proposed codes could be even more flexible. Share your feedback online or attend a workshop:

And join Strong SacTown to join the movement!

Eastbound I-80 between Antelope and Elkhorn

Avoid EB I-80 in Citrus Heights

Shooting on the freeway. Sounds like officer involved shooting after a pursuit.

From CHP Twitter "Due to an active incident, all of eastbound and westbound, I 80 will be closed from Greeneback to Antelope. Please plan accordingly."

About that Friday 7/3/26 Rancho Cordova collision at the SacRT Gold Line

Just saw this today. Everything's OK now, it was taken care of Friday night.

SacRT on their Facebook page reported that this was caused by a pickup truck driver deciding to go around downed crossing guard arms. The pickup truck was struck by a Gold Line train heading towards Downtown.

Somewhere during Friday's discussion here, it was mentioned how the wait seems so long for a train to pass through that others have been seen copying this driver's actions. Because there are 2 tracks here, a vehicle could be struck by 2 consecutive trains in opposite directions.

Not worth it to all involved, including the train operator(s), passengers, people nearby and original driver too.

EDIT: Searched to see local news coverage, adding this one from KCRA. The truck driver was taken to a hospital, no one on the train was injured. CBS13 and FOX40 also reported.

Retro Console Repair/Restoration

Has anyone had positive experiences with any Sacramento area businesses that do retro video game system restorations they can recommend ?

I have an old Atari system (top loading bay for two cartridges, built in keyboard, 4 controller ports, and an external floppy drive) that I need to get given a proper cleaning, and possibly some restoration work. I know the keyboard might need some care because years ago when I used it, I was having to punch some keys pretty hard to get it register on screen.

Ace of Spades - GA Seating?

I've been to one show at Ace of Spades (The Academy Is) and saw a small amount of seating along the railing and side wall circled here (Kings Court and Royal Flush). I wasnt sure if these seats were all ADA or reserved, or up for grabs? Asking specifically for tonight's show with Jinjer. Its all GA, so I didnt see a place to purchase these seats, or are they up for grabs? Thank you!

Fishing Classes In Sacramento?

Curious if there's like a local place that can teach someone to fish and tour them to places. I'm a total noob. I don't want to research or buy equipment. I just want to show up, be taught and given equipment to catch something.

Is it lit in your neighborhood tonight on the 4th? It's sorta dead where I live, which is crazy

Last year it wasn't like this lol so wonder what gives? I doubt it's because of bans.

Did this statue exist or am I nuts?

I have vivid memories of a black bull statue with red light-up eyes that was (I think) in downtown sac. Looked like Charging Bull in NY. This would have been through the 90s.

The google box is making me feel insane bc I can’t find any photos of this thing. Does anyone have info or photos?
