Viele Posts hier fragen um Rat ob der Stundensatz in Ordnung ist, oder ob ab wo Mehraufwand bezahlt wird, etc. Oft sehe ich dann in den Antworten so Pauschalaussagen wie: Mit 100€/h hättest du auch angestellt bleiben können. Damit ackerst du dich ja ab.

Ehrlich gesagt verstehe ich den Teil nicht. Ich bin zwar selbst noch nicht allzu lange Freiberufler (ca 2 Jahre jetzt) und habe auch keine hohen Kosten, aber ich bin, trotz oder weil oder einfach als sidenote mit ca 8 Jahren vorheriger Berufserfahrung als Developer, mit einem Stundensatz von 100€ eingestiegen. Das kam mir viel vor. Und ehrlich: Das ist auch nicht wenig. Man muss es immer im Kontext betrachten. Du kannst auch mit 100€ die Stunde halbtags arbeiten und leben wie Gott in Frankreich. 100 €/h * 230 Tage (30 Tage Urlaub, 5 Tage die Woche) * 4 h/Tag = 92.000€.

Klar davon gehen auch wieder Einkommenssteuer runter etc, aber hab mal einen 92.000€ Brutto Jahreslohn - ca 50.000€ Netto bei einem Halbzeitjob. Da lebt es sich doch nun wirklich noch sehr bequem.

Ich stehe gerade bei neuen Kunden bei 150€/h. Ich fühle mich damit nicht schlecht. Ich fühle mich damit aber auch nicht gut. Auf der einen Seite kommt es mir viel vor, auf der anderen Seite denke ich mir: Wenn der Kunde das zahlt und ich aber auch sehe, was Agenturen oder andere Dienstleister für Stundensätze nehmen und dann aber doppelte bis dreifache Zeit brauchen, dann denke ich mir, dass ich noch zu wenig nehme. Aber ich bin zufrieden.

Am Ende gibt es nun mal keinen Einheitspreis. Es gibt keine einheitlichen Lebensbedingungen und -situationen. Ich habe keine Kinder und wohne im Eigenheim. Meine Kosten sind gering. Eine Familie mit Kindern und zb nur einem berufstätigen Elternteil muss natürlich anders rechnen.

Aber pauschal kann man es einfach nicht beziffern. 100€/h für einen dev mit keiner Erfahrung: klingt nach viel zu viel. 100€/h für einen dev mit 8 Jahren Erfahrung kann zu wenig klingen. Aber wenn du dadurch zb langfristige Kunden gewinnst und dort dann in einen Retainer rutschst oder kleinere Projekte pauschal abrechnest und bei effektiven 180€/h landest, dann war es das doch auch absolut wert.

Und damit meine ich jetzt nicht, dass 100€ die untere Grenze sein sollte. Es kommt einfach drauf an. Am Ende ist es Bezahlung auf Grund von Leistung. Bringst du die zuverlässig, ist jeder Preis auf den du und der Kunde sich einigen der Richtige.

I'm a freelance developer with several years of professional experience, and the most annoying part of my daily business has always been timetracking. I tried Toggl Track, WakaTime and plenty of others. Don't get me wrong, they all solve what they were built for. They just didn't solve it for me.

For example: most of them limit live tracking to one project at a time, which doesn't work anymore when you have multiple AI coding sessions running for different clients. For detailed stats you have to open some web app. And the ones with good UX never seem to be local-only, there's always an account involved.

So I built Døgn. That's Norwegian for a complete day-and-night cycle. It lives in the menu bar, one click and you see your whole day at a glance. It automatically tracks your Claude Code, Codex, ... sessions and writes a short on-device summary (Apple Intelligence) as the task description. No account, no cloud, nothing leaves your Mac.

That alone was enough for me. But I wouldn't call this post "freelancer suite" if it had stopped there.

The next pain showed up fast: I kept forgetting to take notes in meetings, and eventually forgot tasks we had decided on. I know Fathom, Jamie and the built-in transcription in Meet & co exist, but I'm not comfortable with my speech sitting on some company's servers, even briefly. So I built folo (as in follow-up), fully local transcription and summarization on Apple Silicon. It doesn't beat ElevenLabs in transcription or diarization, but it's local, it's private, and the results are way better than no notes at all.

Somewhere in the middle of building folo I showed a friend both apps. He's a dev with years of experience as well, and he was so fired up that we've been building this together ever since.

At some point we started linking the apps: finish a meeting in folo and it gets tracked in Døgn automatically, no keypress, with the meeting context attached. So when you ask yourself "what did we discuss in that last Acme Inc meeting?", you find it in folo or by clicking the linked entry in Døgn.

That's where the actual suite idea comes from. We don't want the "one app does it all" thing where you can't find anything. We want polished, single-purpose apps that share the same local data core, link wherever possible and build a knowledge graph just by being used instead of you maintaining it.

To make the daily freelancer flow complete, we're also building tjent (Norwegian for "earned"), a full bookkeeping app for German freelancers: invoicing with XRechnung/ZUGFeRD, UStVA calculation, expense and inventory tracking, GoBD-compliant. Your tracked Døgn times flow straight into proposals and invoices. And møt (Norwegian for "meet"), a P2P meeting tool in the spirit of the old Around, but even less in the way. Encrypted, good screensharing with on-screen annotation, as little data sent as possible. Built for actually working on something with your freelance colleague or designer instead of just talking about it.

All apps are native macOS apps (that's what makes the fully local approach work so well) and every one of them works standalone, but the linking between them is the whole point.

No SaaS. One-time payment per app, like Affinity did it. Fair, offline, no telemetry.

Current status: Døgn is close to production-ready and has been battle-tested in our own daily work for a while now, folo is in beta with a small tester group, tjent and møt are in alpha while we're gathering legal feedback from tax advisors. We're stabilizing everything for launch, so you might stumble upon a bug or two.

I'm really curious if it's just me and my colleague who really like the idea, or if it has potential in the wild.
