Was just reading the CNA article about “desire for car ownership remains high” and was thinking should COE not have ABSD for foreigners? Why is this not implemented?

I’ve seen many foreigners driving cars on our streets. And if a house/home/apartment has a foreigner ABSD on it, should cars not have that too?

An apartment takes up 1000 - 2,000 sq ft on average, a typical car takes up 160-320 sq ft (according to Google) but it would then proceed to run all over Singapore on a daily basis taking up a ton of space in that process. Just visualize a 320 sq ft red marker running all over the map of Singapore - that takes up way more space than an apartment!

So why shouldn’t there be an ABSD on foreigners for owning cars?

In theory this could also lead to more jobs for locals to drive grab car etc.
