I keep my step goal attainable so I can sleep at night and protect the streak. 57 years strong.
Blister and callus relief
Because people still insist on posting pictures of their mangled, blistered, oozing feet, I thought I might proactively offer a great solution. These are great. So, please, for everyone's well-being, stop with the feet pics.
I recently divorced myself from being tied to a step count. I was using a "number" to decide success or failure. The moment I let go of that notion was the moment I began to feel the true benefits of moving.
The constant checking of my phone, the endless pacing, the endless chasing just for that momentary dopamine rush that quickly faded away. Once I achieved that day's goal, I began to worry about tomorrow.
For those who have a step goal, especially the same one for a long time, when does the number start controlling you? After "X" number of days, it's no longer about using that target as motivation. Instead, it becomes an obligation.
If your goal is 10,000 but you only hit 9,999, have you failed? How does one number dictate where the finish line is? What is it about that last series of digits hitting zero that makes such a difference?
