Bought a "salvage" car, unsure about titling
I bought a Massachussets titled used car from someone in Massachussets. I signed the title as the buyer and sent it into the New Hampshire DMV for getting it in my name. They replied telling me it was declared a total loss in 2019 and I need the adjusters report and/or (unsure which) a notorized letter with receipts of the damage being repaired.
The issue is the owner I bought it from bought the car after it was "totalled" and titled it just fine in Massachussets with no salvage title. He had it for 6 years before selling it to me. He doesn't have the previous owners adjusters report, as he got it from a dealership in 2019. I called the NH DMV and they told me Geico was the one who totalled it so I called Geico and they told me I'm not the original person involved and I am not allowed to get the report.
The car works fine, has no issues and no broken bits. How am I expected to title this now in New Hampshire? The NH DMV currently is holding the signed MA title. What now? I can't get receipts for the repairs either since it was already fixed and working since the previous owner purchased it.
