Moving to another country and not bothering to learn the language blows my mind

This might be ring-wing coded but in this instance they’re right. I know people with grandparents who moved to the US in their 20s and now they’re in their 80s and still don’t know English. Absolutely insane to waste all that time and limit yourself in such a vast country. I know Spanish speakers have exploded in the us recently, but learning English should still be an unofficial requirement even back when English wasn’t the official language (I have no idea if Trump’s order actually made English official). How can you enjoy the rest of the country if you just visit specific cities that have Spanish?

In Germany, while trying to learn German I’ve met a couple of people who lived in Germany for years and don’t know German. I know Germany is a lot more open to this and most know some English, if you live somewhere you should at least make an effort.

I’m starting to understand Quebec and their strict language laws. If you live in a high immigration country and don’t enforce languages you’re going to get entire sections of the country that can’t speak to each other.

I get Islamophobic whenever I see a niqab in public

No I don’t want it banned, but I’m allowed to bitch. It’s just mind boggling to me people willingly wear that especially in the US. Literally one step away from a burka. Thing is, hijabs can be beautiful and my mom would joke that she’d convert to Islam so she can hide bad hair days with them. I know they’re rare, but willingly wearing a full on niqab is crazy. Sometimes I wonder if it’s for attention, which is ironic.

Jobs with the least amount of douches

I’m sick of my finance role where I also play customer service sometimes and I have to deliver bad news about them failing an inspection or similar. Then also dealing with coworkers upset at me for doing my job and starting fights with my manager even though he can’t do anything. I’m glad that management usually has my back but I’m sick of every other email saying fuck you because our inspector noted mold in the ceiling and you swear it isn’t bad.

The other half is banks mad at us for their borrowers not paying or doing shit when we’ve done everything we can. Always sucks being a bad guy so for my mental health I’m done and need a new career path.

Somehow got the wrong boarding pass when flying home and got into an embarrassing situation

I was at the gate when they announced that they had a full flight and asked for volunteers to move their carry on to check in. I figured I might as well and went up to the desk. The gate attendant or whoever at the desk was checking me in and said “would you like to change seats to an exit seat with more legroom?” He assured me there was no extra charge and I was handed a printed boarding pass. I noticed the boarding pass on my phone didn’t change but I just assumed it hasn’t gone through yet (similar things happened before on other flights). The new seat was right behind my original seat

I checked in and scanned the pass with no issue. I get to my seat and sit down when another passenger says I’m in his seat, but I showed him my boarding pass and he’s like wtf and sits next to me to not block others. We’re obviously confused what happened so we tried flagging down a flight attendant, but got ignored. Moments later an employees rushes on the plane and looks at my old seat and calls out my name. I said here and he asked for me boarding pass, then he said “No I need (my name)’s boarding pass”. I said that’s the one they gave me on there but I have my phone, but he replies with “let me see your passport”. Then takes a look and does something with his phone and says “you’re good” and just leaves.

The other passenger and I were still confused but thought this might be it. I offered to switch seats since I had window and he had middle but he said he didn’t care. Then a flight attendant shows up and asked if we’re traveling together, we said no and then she calls out my name and says I need to move back to my original seat since I needed to pay. I tried saying I was offered it but she said I still had to move, so annoying everyone I got my bag and moved. I felt embarrassed doing all of that like a prick even though none of it was my fault. I already sent a complain to AA but this was the second time flying with them and I think I’m done after this significant incompetence. Even spirit was better than this.

My biggest fear of aging is becoming stubborn like boomers

I rather not be an asshole because “young people don’t get it” and not elaborate at all. Then get upset when things don’t go how I like it and call younger generations babies for wanting public transportation

Ever went to school with someone who became famous?

While not in my high school, one of the actresses who was in Obsession went to my rival high school so a lot of my friends knew her and one dated her. Pretty crazy cause no one knew how far she’ll go even if it was just a mistake

Im seriously considering it and I might go solo since my friends aren’t interested (too expensive). I’m not Australian or Egyptian but I’m curious about seeing one World Cup game.

Anyone know of any Austrian parties or events going on this weekend for the World Cup?

They play on the 22nd and I have some friends coming. At most we’ll probably go to an Austrian bar if there’s nothing else

So how do we deal with the rising Gen Z NEET problem?

I personally know too many zoomers just living with their parents doing absolutely nothing with their life besides video games or maybe gym. No desire for a job. It’s not that they can’t find one it’s that they just don’t want one.

Got flipped off today but for the first time it was justified

Was at a red light and for some stupid reason my brain thought I was ok to u turn. As I was turning I saw someone coming turning life but I didn’t see their turn signal so I assumed they were going to stop but they didn’t. Genuinely don’t know what I was thinking 12 years of driving and today my brain stopped working.

Didn’t hear any screeches or anything but I saw her flipping me off while I was driving. Felt bad but I deserved it 100% for this retarded move. I had a hard day at the gym and didn’t sleep well so maybe that contributed but fuck

Little Rock is genuinely the worst city I’ve ever been to in the world

Was on a road trip and decided to stay a night there and see a couple museums including the Clinton museum and stuff about Little Rock nine before moving on. Holy fuck I hate that city.

Most of the buildings and roads are run down and there is no city life at all. I wasn’t expecting New York but I’ve been to much smaller towns with more life than this. Even small towns in Arkansas were better than this shit. The motel I stayed at smelled like shit with stains everywhere and I should have just left but I already blew 50 bucks. Also when I first entered the city a cop pulled me over and got on to me about stopping too quick or something (light went from green to red almost instantly). Didn’t get a ticket but idk why he pulled me over, so amazing first impression. Also walking around downtown i was constantly looking over my shoulder to make sure I don’t get jumped even though it was during the day. It’s a super sketchy city.

Food was alright, nothing special. Some old bridges were cool and some of the hills and mountains were nice to see. Museums were the best part especially the submarine one, but didn’t make up for the rest of the stupid ass town.

FIFA will be a disaster

At least in the US. Half of the cities have poor infrastructure for large groups and with Trump it’s going to be Visa hell for anyone visiting
