Cashier vs Associate tasks

Context: I have recently transferred to an ALDI store in a different state. I have noticed that part time cashiers at my new store are required to work curbside, pull/refill product, basically performing associate tasks. I am confused by this because I thought cashiers were only responsible for cashiering and having their area clean/organized. I believe they are paid less than associates, (correct me if I am wrong, at my old store they were paid a $1 less).

My question is, how is this allowed? Or is this allowed? I have never worked or helped out at a store that had cashiers performing those tasks. If you’re going to make them work like an associate, they should be paid as an associate.

Note: Not every ALDI has a cashier position, certain regions do, others don’t, but out here and my previous state they did.
