My birthday is next month and my boyfriend is usually really good about getting me what I ask for as long as the price is reasonable.

I try to keep it around $150 if I can help it.

I've had a Big Shot for years but my arms get so sore if I am doing more than a couple dies at once. I've got a Christmas craft fair I plan to attend and want to make 3d ornaments among other things as well as cards. I would get more use out of an electric one that I didn't have to keep taking breaks with.

I don't know enough about die cut machines to know what to ask him for. I do want to be sure I can use the dies I currently have, I don't want it to be limited to a certain brand of die.

Any suggestions?

I had my first craft fair yesterday. I sold about half of the cards I took with me.

The next craft fair I plan to attend is in November for Christmas. I really don't want these spring time, any occasion cards to just collect dust. So I am going to send them to all you wonderful card loving freaks.

I've already got them written on with short jokes and messages. In the envelopes and sealed up ready to go. All I need is to know who to send them to. What you get is going to be a mystery to me as well as to you.

I ask that when you get the card you post a thank you and tell me in the thank you which card you got. I usually take pictures and have a user name attached to the picture so when someone tells me thank you, I can look back and see which card they are thanking me for.

Also prefer that you be an active user with at least one offer on your RAoC account within the last six months.

I might have to send these in a couple of batches due to how many stamps I have vs how many cards I have available. I have about 25 cards.

Please fill out the form if you would like a mystery card.

It was a slow buying day. I think being the weekend between paychecks plus the overall state of the economy just made everyone's budgets tight. After talking with several vendors my son and I think I did pretty well. Some vendors didn't sell anything. There was a woodworking vendor the other side of me that only sold two items, she didn't even make the gas money she spent to come to the fair let alone the cost of the booth.

My takeaways -

  1. Know your Audience

Most people thought my art was pretty and it got them to the table but aside from greeting cards, none of them sold. A couple people commented that I am selling in a town that has two Christian colleges and more churches in the town than any other in the state. My stuff is too secular, I need to have it more religious leaning. After he told me that I made a simple heart and cross card, took me ten minutes. It was sold within 15 minutes after I put it on the table. It was the end of the day otherwise I would have made a dozen more.

    • Everyone loves Stitch.

I can't tell you how many people adults and children, I saw walking around with Stitch clothing or bags, etc. When I do Christmas cards, I am going to have a few Stitch cards in the mix.

    • People couldn't tell what was greeting cards. We had to tell them. For Christmas I want a display stand that turns that is just for cards.

Do you want to know the vendor who had the best day? The tupperware lady next to me. She sold at least half if not more than her inventory. Freaking tupperware! I told my son if he bought me tupperware for Mother's Day, I would give him underwear for Christmas.

I ended up selling not quite half of my cards, none of my art sold. I am packing that up for the next craft sale and we'll see how it goes then. I also had a woman talk to me about wanting a bulk order for her dog grooming shop. I gave her my business card and told her to send me an email and we can work out the details. If she reaches out I will consider that a sucess. I had a few other people take my cards but they didn't really talk to me about wanting a specific order.

I did come away from the craft fair with lots of ideas for the holiday fair I plan to do in November.
