If Amanda would have came back as a lightbearer, what would you have done with her character?

Reason for the post is that Robert Brookes posted on Twitter a pitch he never got to pitch for a story with Amanda getting resurrected by ghost manipulated by Savathun to believe he is a hive ghost, but actually isn't. Amanda wears hive armor to make her ghost feel more confortable and acts as an antagonist for us for the beginning.

I don't dislike the idea, but it made me ask: What would I have done with Amanda becomeing a lightbearer?

I think I would have made her a Totality Devision (Rao) loyalist who is not manipulated by her and has a real friendship with psions after they found her and helped her on her feet. She doesn't like the Vanguard and the Coalition for not careing for the psions and only watching as her new family gets abused by Cabal and even other Psions, like Yirix. With time she starts to realise that she has some kind of connection with the people of the Last City. After she gets her memorys back she is in conflict with her mixed feelings about the Vanguard, because of her past and her new psion family.

I would make her part of a syndicate like Crow, but unlike him she is it willingly. And I use the psions, because we have no character that acts as a bridge to the psions and their story. We know of different pieces for the psion plot going on, but noone who really connects us with that storyline and a resurrected Amanda who cares deeply for the psions for what they did for her and acts as Raos secret agent could act as the bridging point.

I also would make her dislike the Vanguard to contrast her more with Crow. Crow was hated from everything for his past, but he always wanted to reach out to everyone. Amanda, on the other hand, was loved from everyone in her past. So instead of everyone rejecting her and she wanting to reach out, everyone wants to reach out to her, but she wants to reject them.

I would also make her a Solar-Titan. I think that fits with her the best. And I think I would call her character Hawk or Falcon.

What would you do with her as a lightbearer?

I don`t think I get what the lorebook Assumption wants to say....

So, the lorebook is about Lodi throughout his life before III took him to Kepler and far in the future long after Kepler. The lorebook tell us from different moments of his life (he has an interesting career. I`m impressed that he never killed someone.) And a major event in his life was an encounter he and his brother, Ben, had with a stranger. The text of the stranger seems to indicate that this person is III. He smells like coal, a smell that appears very often in the lorebook.

I think the smell of coal indicates III interfereing in his life. He smells it right before he was saved in Holland. Later in the lorebook he talks to a different timeline version of his brother, who says his Louis died in the incident on Holland.

There is also big talk about Ben being Louis constant and the incident in Assumption always happening. I don`t know how it leads to the last entry of Lodi after 30 trillion years, who turns out to have been speaking to Ben in Assumptions, because Ben says that the stranger told him something of "Everything is gonna be okay." and Lodi talks to him and says "Everything is gonna be okay."

30 trillion years old Lodi wants be bring all of his family back for something and he still sees Ben as his constant. All his family, including Ben and himself, are 9 people. Does he want them to be vessels of the Nine? Was this suppost to set up a future version of Lodi as a separat character for the future?

I guess I`m a bit confused, because I`m not sure on what the point of the the whole talk about constants and the shifting of timelines was going for....

What are your thoughts on the lorebook?

Can we please stop calling Lightfall the filler expantion? Because that is bullshit.

A filler is by definition something you can completely skip and miss nothing, but you can't skip Lightfall. Too much important stuff happens in that expantion. We find out about the Veil. We find out why the Witness plan failed during the Collapse. We get to know about Savathuns trick that was teased in Witch Queen. We find out about Strand and how Darkness can be completely different from what we expect. Calus, a character we interacted with a lot in the past, dies here. And Osiris has great load of character developement here.

And even when you say "Yeah, but Neomuna was pointless." The lore of the creation of the city involved Maya Sundaresh. It tells us of a big change of her character, which is extremly important, because she ends up as the villian, who brought us independent Vex AND killed III of the Nine.

Lightfall is NOT a filler expantion. You can love Lightfall, or hate it, but you can't call it filler, even when we can all agree that the expantion clearly wasn't planed to be like it is.

William Moffat is a real Guardian!

(William Moffat is the director of the DEO. The "Recovered Materials, Old Chicago" lorebook expands his story)

No, not literally! But he acts like a true Guardian should and I really like him for that. He does everything he can to get Louis and Nella back to their familys. He is very devoted. He wants to enter the Blue Door himself to get Nella and Louis out there. He is brave. And when Falkner is in danger to get lost in the Blue Door, he goes in to get him out of there in savety. He is ready to sacrifice himself to secure the savety of his people.

(I love how everyone thinks he makes jokes, when he says he wants to enter the portal first and Meyers and Falkner just know the conversation they will need to have with him.)

I like how important the well being of other people is so important to him. Even at the end of his time as the director of the DEO he is just incredibly upset that he wasn't able to bring his colleges back (*). He asks III if he can bring them cake from his farewell party to them with the message that he is truely sorry and that he did his best. I hope he has some confort in knowing that Lodi found the cake and talks with Ikora about it, as we find out in the Dignitary. His efforts weren't left unnoticed.

I really, really like his character!

(*) I also noticed the mirroring with Maya, who acts fully selfishly and is obsessed with bringing her wife from the past to the future. Moffat is selfless and obsessed with bringing his co-workers from the future back to the past.

Edit: Forgot to mention the last entry of the Old Chicago lorebook. He doesn't care if his actions are out of a selfless desired, or a selfishly one. It won't stop him from keep trying to save Louis and Nella.

What the hell was VIs plan here?

He makes a deal with Savathun to get rid of Maya. Why?

He just leaves his closest follower, Bael. I guess that is the point he starts to panic, because the Winnower comes nearer, but why leave Bael?

He takes Xur as his exclusive vessel instead for some reason...

And he trys to make a deal with Maara to make her leave the Last City by themselves.

Why does he do that? Does he hope the Winnower lets him live, if he turns full traiter to Sol (instead of just being a Renegade)?

Is this what II meant?

In IIs entry in Epochs and Orbits they tease us that the traveler had a different reason to go to Sol than we know. We know now that the Nine knew and were afraid of the arrival of the Winnower, who comes to fight us, because we are the final and ultimate argument of the Gardener against the Winnowers ideals.

Could it be that the Traveler also knew about the battle that would come to Sol and placed the Traveler in Sol so the Collapse could happen and the Guardians would be created?

The Traveler came to create the Gardeners final argument and have the final battle against the Winnower.
