A Second Petition To Support The Cause

A Second Petition To Support The Cause

Hey Guardians. In an effort to support the cause, I made a second petition for Destiny.

This one is more focused on handing Bungie and Destiny over to another publisher rather than forcing Sony to make a third game. I feel like after the recent layoffs, they really have no interest in pursuing the IP and it would be better for fans of the game to just have them sell of lease it to another publisher that will support it. This is by no means a way to detract support from the primary petition. Please go sign it. It’s almost at 400k. I just wanted to show my support even more than just signing and figured this might be another avenue that Sony considers and would maybe take note if they see the community wants it on another’s hands, and they could benefit from a potential sale.

No hate, just wanted to share with you all. If you don’t want to sign you don’t have to. I’m just posting this for the people that have already signed or still want a way to support the series in any way and maybe see it still grow in the future.

Thanks Guardians, let’s make our own fate.

How do praxis blades work?

They leave scorch marks like the plasma lightsabers from Star Wars, but they use a dark matter crystal to make it more destiny. Is it ever explained what these dark matter crystals are or how they produce the praxic blade?

How come no other guardians can read minds

In the Great Disaster Eriana-3 used her light to read the mind of a Hive Wizard seems like a cool ability shame others don't use it.

If the Light shields Guardian Exos from DER, could they go all out on modifications?

So far we haven’t seen any Guardians undergo DER, so could modifications to the base frame go well? Extra arms, wings, tank tread legs, could they even just integrate their bodies into a Brig for a Brig Titan? Theoretically.

An observation about the player Guardian as an Exo

So, as covered by the 6th Coyote lore tab, Human and Awoken Guardians come up with their own name, but Exo Guardians remember their names.

It's so consistent that Felwinter not remembering his name was considered a very strange event.

Now, this brings to us, the player Guardian, who everyone just calls "the Guardian." Probably because we're the shit and there's nothing else to call us because we haven't picked a name yet.

But if your character is an exo, they remember their name! They just won't tell anyone for no reason at all. Like we could be Shim-6 or whatever or Lupi-9 and nobody would ever know because we're a prick and won't tell anyone our name.

I know this obviously isn't intended, because Bungie can't account for whatever we want to call our character, but it is the end canon result that I think is funny.

SIVA is making me lose it

IM LOSING MY FUCKING MIND WHY IS THIS HARD TO UNDERSTAND!?!?!?

So from rise of iron to right now I did a massive lore dive on siva, because of 2 reasons.

  1. Why is it dead.

  2. How is it dead.

And NOTHINGS lining up for 1 and no one seems to remember any of its lore and go "well we did this and that in rise of iron"

Ok, so ishtar collective and destinypedia both from siva logs explicitly state this here:

SIVA doesn't expire, degrade, or forget. It can remain dormant even on long voyages. ~SIVA.MEM.WB0044

Nearly any problem a deep-space colonist could have, SIVA can fix. ~SIVA.MEM.WB0055

And how long do the effects of SIVA last? ~SIVA.MEM.CL0066

Well, SIVA requires no external power source, so…forever. ~SIVA.MEM.WB0077

Just give it a directive, and it won't stop until it gets a new directive. ~SIVA.MEM.WB0088

Ok Coolio, so it doesnr degrade, it runs on an infinite power of its own and last forever, and wont stop until given a new directive or possibly is overridden to stop. SIVA is also listed and stated to self repair and SELF REPLICATE by consuming existing matter around it to break it down and make it into siva.

Holy shit HOW IS IT DEAD IN CURRENT TIME THEN!?!?!

Theres a massive gap from 2016 to ash and iron, that doesnt explicitly or even SLIGHTLY state that "oh yes we altered the directive" or "we did this" and worse over is people say "we took out the replication chamber" but that is a broken and dumb argument because guess what THE SPLICERS IN ASH ANS IRON ARE RECENTLY DEAD so the siva in them was also recently dead otherwise they'd have a bunch of useless limbs and dumb shit on them that doesnt work.

So how are people so ready to try and throw siva out the window when there is no lore that explains how it died, bungie just goes "yeah fuck it, sivas dead" and then thats it???

Then comes the narrative issue "it doesnt fit anymore" Its a TOOL, it can be used as a TOOL or simply as a way to create a subfaction of eliksni and nothing more, it can simply exist as that, a sub faction that comes around every now and then. And bungie has brought everything back from D1 BUT SIVA!!!

Then came ash and iron and you mean to tell me they cant RIP A REPLICATION CHAMBER from an alt timeline when she did so with the red legion???

Am I crazy??? Did I miss something????

If the golden age was such a perfect time of peace and unity then why did they keep making crazy strong weapons?

This is the only aspect of the Destiny universe that never really made sense to me. They made a whole network of SkyNet style defense systems. They made the black armory and seraph weapons, certain exotics are from the golden age. Were they just trying to prepare if evil aliens came? Did they still have wars in the golden age?

Should We Trust Clovis?

So with one of the MoT ghost shells (The Lament themed one) we get a message from the Clovis ai head on Europa to Ana.

Guess he’s been keeping up with the news with the Nine and wants to help. He does have knowledge granted to him by Clarity/Darkness on transferring consciousness between bodies. Would certainly be useful for “Binding The Nine”

Would we trust him to actually help? Should we? Unfortunately we can only speculate what his future involvement in the story would be, though between this new lore tab and Banshee’s VA being changed to the same guy who did Clovis certainly points towards him being important to what should have come.

Edit: I already knew the resounding answer is No, Clovis is an SoB of the highest order, I’m just curious if we think humanity is desperate enough to answer his plea to be placed in a fully functional frame to as he puts it “Join the Vanguard for the betterment of humanity”

Like the red flags and klaxons are all over the place but how do we think Bungie would have had it play out

As of MoT, what's the status of our four OG enemy factions?

I haven't gathered yet all of the lore drops in MoT but I spoke to all the NPC's on the different planets (for the triumph). But still, I forgot a lot of stuff from the previous expansions.

How are Cabal/Barant, Eliksni/Fallen, Hive and Vex doing ?

I'd love to have a breakdown of their current status, forces, subfactions, leaders, whereabouts, who they're at war with etc.

Cabal: Caiatl's with us but what's left of the Red legion? Shadow legion? Barant Imperium? What's left of Torobatl after Xivu went there?

Edit for Cabal: What about the Psions too? Are they breaking free from Cabal? Their psionic powers seem pretty OP if they're going rogue. What about Otzot etc?

Eliksni: House of light is with us but what about Eramis? House Salvation? Pikers? The wrathborn?

Hive: Is Oryx dead, dead, gone for good ? (After Ghosts of the deep events and the echo of navigation). What is Savy up to? What about Xivu after threatening us in one cinematic? Her wrathborn?

Vex: We now have individual Vex since Renegades but what about the Sol Divisive? Our OG bronze vex? Maya's vex etc? Volantis 2082 after the events of the Glassway?

You guys don't have to answer every single of my questions but I'd love a quick summary :)

Ghost resurrection on non-guardians

According to the stories of Shin Malphur, and the hive Lightbearers, Ghosts can choose who they resurrect. Even if we assume that ghosts still have one true guardian, why didn't we ask a random to ghost to say, revive Cayde, or any other important human that died? Am I missing something lore-wise or is it a plot hole?

Just ready about half the grimoire cards. Wow, this stuff should really have been in the game

“You are a dead thing made by a dead power in the shape of the dead. All you will ever do is kill. You do not belong here. This is a place of life.”
Wow what a fucking quote, and an incredible way to introduce the deeper meanings of the light and dark in destiny 1. Throughout the game the vanguard have repeatedly seemingly dehumanised factions like the fallen (they refer to them as “it” quite a bit) and it always irks me the wrong way, because these are still fully sentient beings who act this way out of partly out of desperation. So to have the very nature of the traveller and its light be questioned is incredibly insightful, lets the player question what exactly they are doing. Like, we are referred to as guardians yet we kill so many enemies, some are genuine threats that need to be killed like the hive but others, such as the cabal and especially the fallen, i think could be negotiated with like the awoken of the reef are (which does happen in D2).
Then there is also an entire short story on the reef wars, what even was twilight gap, etc.
So why is all this not in game? What kind of design decision was this? The game has now got so much more depth because of this lore, yet even on launch it was annoying to get and today you need to use destiny checklist to even know which ones you got.

Help me cope

Please? As a D1 Day1 New Monarchian Guardian it's been a rough month and a half since May 15th and learning Destiny development was coming to a halt. I'd been hoping for reprised City Faction Gear since both Season of the Splicer and Episodes began.

So when I saw that the scout rifle Inbound Surveillance had the exact scheme as Song of Justice VI but different default, name and lore, as well as having been the only Scout Rifle of that Archetype (beyond Exotic reuse somewhat).

I have to ask, why would Dead Orbit Weapons and New Monarchy weapons be altered aesthetically and lorewise while keeping the Faction emblems and imagery on them (for instance the default skin, lore, and names of: DO: Solemn Lie, and NM: Inbound Surveillance and Trendsetter [add other Faction skinned alternative weapons that you may see too).

Yet, the Future War Cult weapons are exact reprisals of their Year 1 versions? Do you think there's deeper lore implications? Because I can't think of why they'd be changed but still have the Faction emblems on them and I would like them reverted to their Faction versions with updated elements and perks. Their original lore felt like it'd be perfectly aligned with the June 9th theme. Their updated names and lore come off oddly and are hard to decipher in a lore sense.

Secondly, with this grimoire from D1 ( https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/mystery-the-vault-of-glass-3 ) and the City Faction leaders and guardians exiled out beyond The Last City walls. What are some theories that you may have had of the Factions after Season of the Splicer and having had the Guardian Games 2024 Skimmer donated by Lysander of the Concordat (a pre-Destiny 1 City Faction who's banners and boxes are still scattered at Bannerfall.

If it were ever possible, I'd wish they'd revert the altered City Faction gear back to their Faction lore, but keep the updated perk rolls and origin traits.

When I have some spare time I'll add some speculations of my own in the comments.

If you could retcon one thing in all of Destiny, what would it be?

Between all the mid-development reboots, rewrites, shufflings of the narrative team and whatnot, it’s no secret that Destiny’s story has always been a bunch of retcons stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat. Most of it’s been great, some of it has been… less than great, but if you could retcon ANYTHING into or out of the game, what would it be?

Personally, I think it’d have been neat if the Dread were the rest of the Witness’ Disciples and slaves/client races (maybe even the ones actually manning the Pyramids instead of them being empty) reshaped according to the Witness’ needs instead of only being its creations made during the siege of Pale Heart.

Were the Grim's physical forms designed from a previous alien species like the rest of the Dread?

TLDR Version- If the Grim's minds are made from Dissenters, are their physical forms designed off of a previous alien species like the Ghost suspected or are they just designed from the Witness?

Long Version- We know that at least some of the Grim's minds were made up of Dissenters from the Witness' collective consciousness, and that their physical forms were made from the Traveler's light. The part that I've seen some discussion on is whether or not an alien species used from the Witness' memories to make up their physical forms like the Ghost suspected, or is it just a body design that the Witness itself designed.

We know that the rest of the Dread are designed from different species. The Weavers and Attendants are designed off of Psions, the Husk is designed off of Eliksni(probably a Dreg though given it only has one pair of arms), the Subjugators are designed off of Lubraens, and Tormentors are designed off of Nezarec's species. Are the Grim an exception to this, or is it up for interpretation at least as of now? I personally think that the answer is that their physical forms are based on an alien species. Maybe the first civilization that was subjugated by the Witness and its Black Fleet. What do you think?

Does the symbol on the Gjallarhorn have any significance (the two headed bird)?

The only other instances of a similar bird in game I think are Crucible and Zavala, but not only are those 2 different birds (Crucible is splayed wings with swords and a circle in the center, Zavala is smooth wings with legs out), neither of them seem to match Gjally which has no wings at all.

Even if they were the same, Gjally was forged of the armor of the fallen, which Shaxx and Zavala are not. Is it the symbol of a forgotten titan order?

Hear me out a game about the fallen

So in the lore of D1 and D2 the fallen are called that because they were originally
“Blessed” by the traveler like our guardians are . So with the end of D2 a new game showing the rise and fall of the Eliksni my opinion on a future game for Bungie.

Observations about the Last City's military capabilities and logistics.

I was chilling with Devrim in the EDZ and it got me thinking about Hawthorne and Amanda. There are way more normal people than guardians and frames put together. It would make sense then that normal people make up the majority of the security forces, while guardians and frames tend to forward advance posts and offensive strongholds. Comparing us to the rest of the species in the system, the only species our normal humans have comparable attributes to is the Fallen, and only the dregs and vandals amongst them. Devrim and Suraya survived in the "field" for so long due to their capabilities with firearms and their tactical sense. Yet, the only species that successfully attacked the City was the Fallen, in which we got lucky in repeling due the actions of a particular Titan. Were the Fallen desperate, cocky, or more capable than everyone else or was everyone else waiting for a more opportune moment, or were we not worth the effort at the time?

(Forgot about the Cabal somehow, even then they got help.)

Edit: Humanity was straight up saved from the brink a number of times before The Guardian was rezzed. Even with the Guardian putting in work, humanity is lucky that the universe has, for the most part, decided that throwing things really fast and making things explode real big was the way to go, instead of just throwing hands or else we'd be way worse off.

A New Consensus

What Factions do you think would make up a new Consensus? The only one I can find as an actual candidate is The Symmetry, but other than that there really isn't any obvious major political faction within the City. Maybe Caital's Cabal or the House of Light but they feel more like separate groups who just live and work with the City.
