Got our US visa approved! - Looking for tips on airlines and show money requirements. ✈️

We didn’t have high expectations, especially given our circumstances. We don’t own any properties, we both have mid-level salaries, and while we have savings, they’re not really that big.

During the interview, the consul asked about my monthly salary, where I work, and our travels over the past five years. I also have a sister in the U.S., which I disclosed, and told the consul that we’ll be staying with her.

We’re very happy and relieved that we got approved! 🥹
With that, we’d love to ask for some tips from those who have traveled to the U.S.:

  1. Which airline is better? We’re considering Starlux, which is cheaper but has a 10-hour layover, or PAL, which is around ₱17,000 more expensive but has a direct flight. Is the ₱17,000 difference worth it?
  2. Is “show money” necessary when entering the U.S.? If yes, roughly how much would be reasonable?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 😊

Edited. Removed question #2. 😊 I was just asking in case they allow combined baggage weight with a travel companion, but I realized my question wasn’t clear enough sorry. 😅
