GenLocke Part 4 END - That's a Wipe

Hey. I know I probably made a lot of people upset with my "genlocke" rules. I saw a post earlier this month about how people hate resurrection clauses and apparently they don't count as nuzlockes on here. I'm sorry if I broke a server rule. I really just wanted a silly casual run and didn't mean any harm by it.

My Platinum run was going great and I had spent most of this month on it. In an effort to stay as true to nuzlocke rules as possible, I didn't use stickers on some of my biggest deaths so far. I had brought in my Cleffa from Crystal version who was carrying a ton of weight during the run, but sweet little Donette died to Cyrus at the Veilstone Galactic HQ. My Luxray, Raiju, also died to Cyrus in the Distortion World. I took Zaratan/Torterra, Morgnon/Swampert, Pepperoni/Typhlosion, UFO/Rotom, Lawton/Metagross, and Dr. Pepper/Umbreon (our previous Gen 2 Champion) to the E4 and it was a pretty clean sweep up until Cynthia. I had some excellent luck and calls, but when Garchomp came out, I hadn't had time to set up against it. Dr. Pepper was able to badly poison it with Toxic, and I had it on the ropes while Morgnon used Protect to stall it out (this guy swapped into a crit Dragon Rush and LIVED on 5HP!), but when Cynthia used ANOTHER Full Restore, I knew it was all over. The monster outsped and overpowered the rest of my team in the blink of an eye. Would be a different story if she wasn't allowed to used items either, harrumph! Oh well.

Instead of going back to my "checkpoint", I guess I'm going to just start over from the beginning with a new set of rules (one that hopefully won't irk people). I kind of wanted to try playing without dupes clause anyways. And I'm definitely going to keep a lot of my rules the same, even if it's not the same "genlocke" format everyone else seems to be using. Maybe I'll call it something else if there's a rule expectation... idk. But I'm gonna take a break in the meantime.

Until then, good luck on your own nuzlockes! I love seeing everyone's teams and updates, regardless of their rules. Thanks for keeping up with my story, too.

Gen 3 Hoenn Hall of Fame! Also left a few other pictures from my photo album and, of course, my beloved spreadsheets. Sorry if they're hard to read, I had a lot of story to tell this time around...

Emerald had some rather sad deaths, and I felt the need to use my first of 6 *resurrection stickers* (yeah I know, it's a big handicap. But this is a leisurely genlocke and I just like the thematic of it). My resident Mudkip-at-home, Soup the Quagsire, really helped us stay in good shape up through Wattson. I decided to transition to a mono-water team after catching so many of them, it just felt right. I lost Goddelius/Azumarill to one of those exploding ninja kids - honestly a huge loss since Azumarill gains fairy-typing in later gens. I also lost Angther/Whismur, who I was training up for breeding purposes. I was fast-forwarding and I think it got Mean Looked by a mid-level Sableye. Oops. While I was training Chowder/Chinchou I brought her in against a trainer in Norman's gym, whose Wigglytuff OHKO'd her with Double-Edge. Chowder got my first res sticker...

Otherwise, some wacky shenanigans occurred. Of my three optional sidequests, I was able to complete two of them! I was able to get a Feebas on Route 119 in record time, and I'd never evolved one the old-fashioned way before so I loaded him up with PokeBlocks and took him to the beauty contest hall. Mickza/Miltoic is my first-ever Beauty Contest Master Champion! My next sidequest was to complete the 7 Trick Master rooms available before the E4, ezpz. I trained up a Wailord in order to complete the series of events that would lead up to my third sidequest, but unfortunately, every underwater zone in this game counts as a single encounter, and I did not get the Relicanth necessary to unlock the Regis. Scratch that one off the list.... but I did accidentally fight a level 70 Rayquaza! DeBingo/Pelipper was lucky Ray missed its Fly and put itself to sleep with Rest... I also decorated my secret base (the same one I always take with the lakeside-view). I had a ton of fun trying to take advantage of all this gen had to offer (except for the battle tent - I was just never a fan for whatever reason).

The E4 in this gen had some real challenges. Sydney and Phoebe went down relatively easy, but Glacia is notoriously terrible. I forgot to reteach Protect to Timmine/Crawdaunt after needing Strength to get through Victory Road, which would have come in handy when Glacia's strongest Glalie used Explosion. It was 100% anticipated. And lethal. Her Walrein knows Sheer Cold, but I got lucky with a crit Thunder on Chowder/Lanturn and she never got the chance to use it. Drake is an absolute chump. And then there was Champion Wallace... I never knew why they replaced Steven Stone, that was an odd choice. Wallace and I had eerily similar teams, but I was a member short. Wailord set up Rain Dance for Chowder to use Thunder, but I didn't trust her to zap Gyarados (it knew Earthquake) and I swapped into DeBingo/Pelipper. Big mistake. It chose to DDance and Hyper Beamed DeBingo right out of the sky. The rest of the fight was agonizing while I stalled out Ludicolo and Milotic with Chowder's Rest and Ryster/Ludicolo's Rain Dish/Leftovers. Soup/Quagsire maybe Yawned once, she's a good girl. I felt exhausted after the fight was finally won. 7.8/10 Too much water

I'm having an unexpectedly good time doing this generational run, so I'll probably start Platinum immediately! Let's see who pops up this time~ I've been saving a LOT of *mystery mousekatools* for my upcoming (and highly dreaded) fight with Cynthia!
