DC CPL-Physical Card

I was approved on 6/20/2026 for both the Concealed Pistol License and Firearms Registration. They email says they will mail me a card to the address on file. Its 7/2/2026 and still havent seen anything from MPD.

I read on here that MPD doesn't send out physical cards, but you have to print them. Is this true, and if so, Where do I print out my permit? There was no attachment to the email or on the portal.

"The Metropolitan Police Department is pleased to inform you that application APP-XXXXXXX-2026 has been approved.  . MPD will mail your card to the address on file "

Wear & Carry Approval

I currently have an HQL, have purchased multiple handguns in MD, hold a DoW TS clearance, and was just approved for a DC Concealed Pistol License. I submitted my Maryland Wear & Carry on 6/11, NICS on 6/15, on now sitting on Ready for Investigation.

I'm unsure if I could potentially be denied due to past convictions, which I did disclose and submitted court provided dispositions for, which were asked for on the Maryland Permit Application, but not on the DC application.

I have convictions:

(1)Conviction-Driving While Ability Impaired in New York State in 2008; classified as a non-criminal traffic infraction

(2) Conviction-DWI- 1st Offense in New York State in 2012; unclassified misdemeanor.

I also was charged with:

(2) Charged/Ticketed -Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in New York State in 2009; (pipe found in my car during traffic stop) classified as a non-criminal violation. Received an ACD (Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal), which was a no-plea nullification. Since then due to NY's legal status on marijuana, all records are sealed/expunged as well.

Since this was classified as non-criminal/civil violation and the application Q #3 specified "Have you ever been CHARGED for a violation of any CRIMINAL law? ", I did not include this on the application as it did not seem applicable. Upon reviewing my SF-86 Security Clearance paperwork, it is listed as a non-criminal/civil offense under NY Penal Law. Penal essentially meaning criminal law.

I was honest and forthcoming about all other offenses and even provided a character statement which mentions I was entrusted with a TS clearance and have not had any legal issues since 2012.

I have this feeling like the UPM ticket might throw a wrench in the process. Looking for any opinions. Any thoughts?

Non-Resident Applying for DC CCL

I’m looking to apply for a non-resident DC CCL but getting conflicting information on the requirements.

I’ve taken a DC/MD 16 hour course, watched the online video, and have a PD-219 ready to go.

Do I need to currently have a CCW issued by the state I reside in to apply in DC?

I read 24 DC Mun. Regs. Ş2335.1 which states:

“states:

(f) Has a bona fide residence or place of business:

(1) Within the District of Columbia;

(2) Within the United States and a license to carry a pistol concealed upon his or her person issued by the lawful authorities of any State or subdivision of the United States; or

(3) Within the United States and meets all registration and licensing requirements pursuant to the Act…”

Option 3 reads as if you don’t meet (1) or (2), being a non-resident does not require holding a license to carry issued by another state, as long as you aren’t a prohibited person per the application. I

s that a correct interpretation? Any clarity into this matter would be greatly appreciated.
