Cindy's (both locations) closed for week? What's the tea?

Found out to my surprise Cindy's is closed until until the 6th, apparently started on the 29th. I was just in there a few days before, and didn't recall any signage over it.

Is this normal or is something wrong?

Kimber 1911 Custom LW question

I want to purchase the Kimber 1911 Custom LW Shadow Ghost bundle, but that specific model number is not on the MD handgun roster. I see that they have a few other Kimber Custom LWs model numbers on there, though. Is there a chance I can still get it, given that there are other almost identical models approved?

AR upper legality question

I have a stripped lower. It is registered I did the 77r. I have a couple of questions. Forgive me if they have been answered before, I haven’t found a clear answer. Please advise me if I’m incorrect:

My first question:

Can I possess a non hbar complete upper if I don’t attach it to ANY lower? Just the upper by itself.

My follow up questions:

Can I build out the lower as a pistol lower with a brace, and attach a non hbar 16” upper to it? The upper wouldn’t have a vfg or anything. Just iron sights

If not:

After having built said pistol lower can I switch out the brace to a stock after already having built it as a pistol lower? Is it a rifle lower now?

And then -

Can I possess both the lower with a stock, and the non hbar upper, separate (not attached) to each other, and drive out of state to where it is legal to attach them together to use at the range, then separate them again and come back home?

My final question:

Should I just move to West Virginia?

Range recommendations for absolute beginners in Frederick?

My wife and I have zero experience with firearms but just bought a Glock 19 for home defense. It's still hasn’t been fired yet.

We’re looking for a range close to Frederick that offers solid beginner lessons. Ideally, we want someone to walk us through the basics—
from range safety and shooting fundamentals to how to properly clean and maintain it afterward.

Main priority is finding a place with zero judgment or ego since we are total novices. Any recommendations for a welcoming range or specific instructors nearby?

Thanks!

Just turned 18 and need advice

I’m 18 in Maryland, Baltimore county specifically, and am looking to purchase my first firearm. I believe that at my age I can get AR and AK pattern rifles as long as they have a barrel that is 16+ inches long. (Please correct me if I’m wrong) I am unsure how to go about purchasing it, what to say / do, and what I need. If you have any advice please feel free to comment or send me a pm.

Probably not the best place to ask this, but can you take your ccw out to check it while sitting in your personal vehicle?

I am by no means saying its a good idea or something I would plan on doing regularly, but lets say I was on the way back from the range, my ccw was really hot, and I had to pull off into a parking lot to pull it out discreetly, unload the magazine, and reholster it real quick just to be safe. Even though this was done on the sly, the person in the car next to you might have seen it and thought that was incredibly bizarre and terrifying. Would I have done anything illegal in that scenario? If they decided to inform law enforcement, but nothing immediately happened, would I now be a suspect or something?

Apologies for such a silly and hypothetical question. In my defense, I'm a dumbass.

Store consignment (NOT A SALE POST)

Does anybody know a ffl/store that if I put my G17 up for consignment that wouldn’t take a huge chunk of what it sells for?

The gun MD is banning in October

I just got done tearing my magazines down, cleaning them and putting them back together. It was so hot yesterday, my Glock ran dry and went into single-shot mode.

If you can get one, I highly recommend the G43, 48, 34 or even the 19 or 26. With a punch, I was able to clean firing-pin well in under ten minutes as well as the extractor.

Great gun. Awesome range. I wish I still had my M1939 VKT Mosin!

HGP/CCW reference call number

Does anyone know what phone number the reference check comes from? I keep getting spam calls and hangups on answer and now refuse to answer unstored contacts. I want to pass this number on to my references so that they can be aware and will answer as well as if they call me for interview.

Recommendation

I have Glock 19 and 43X with 10 magazines for each.

Also have a 16” and 12.5” AR15 with 15 mags for each. both runs 5.56/.223.

I thought I have a good set and enough for me at the range.

But I keep searching for something new without finding anything really gets my interest.

Thought about a shotgun or a 10/22 rifle but I am not sure if I am going to enjoy them.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

New ATF Rule?

I saw a couple of references today to a proposed ATF rule change that would make it easier for online firearms retailers to ship guns directly to purchasers. What’s the story on this, and how do people think it would work in MD?

Backyard Shooting

What are the rules for back yard shooting in Anne Arundel county? Around the Magothy River in this case. Certain setback? Distance from roads? I’m talking about 22lr just plinking, is it even possible and under what conditions?

If and when Assault Weapon Ban gets struck down, what will you be getting first?

I'll go first: a proper AK47 rifle and a Springfield M1A SOCOM.

By the way this makes me think, would all the "evil features" and OAL rules will be nullified too?

You called it a gimmick — that moved the target camera to the top of my list.

A month ago I posted here about my blast capture system at Gilbert and a lot of you gave me real feedback — cool once, but no reason to come back. A gimmick. I heard you.

The target camera was always in the plan, but that conversation moved it to the front of the line. Second camera downrange tracks your hits and composites them onto your blast photo — your shot placement paired with your form at the exact moment you pulled the trigger.

Still dialing it in. What do you think — does this change anything? Also kicking around the idea of monthly competitions between shooters with real prizes. Would that interest anyone?
