Do people still put beds on bricks?

I know Im super ignorant but help me out. When I was growing up in the 80s I remember visiting my grandma's workers and so many ladies had their beds up on paint tins because of the tokoloshe. Later when I was working in a restaurant one of the cleaning ladies had a meltdown because she thought she saw one in the bathroom and no one would go in there. It turned out to be an action figure some kid forgot.

Made me wonder - do people believe in tokoloshes and the imkalemevana and rain birds still? In urban areas? Or is it dying out?

Read another gruesome story about a family of 8 being murdered in cold blood. Old lady burnt to death gradually by heating water in an electric kettle etc. I know all the stats say the death penalty doesn't reduce violent crime, I know innocent people get convicted, I know the moral arguments.

But part of me wonders if bringing the death penalty back would make our society even a little bit safer? Of help families find more peace after their loved ones are taken away?

What do you think? I'm old enough to remember it being enforced but wasn't old enough to understand what it meant to people
