Areana (S6 Mini) talks about her experience on the show

Let me know if this has been posted before because I skimmed through the sub and couldn't find it.

She is more than entitled to talk openly about her experience, including whether someone was rude to her or whether she felt mistreated. However, I don't really like the idea of expecting 13-year-olds to behave with the maturity of adults. Obviously, everyone should be taught to be polite and respectful toward others, but you can't expect a hormonal, stressed teenager to always handle situations maturely and I've noticed this mindset being repeated here in this sub as well so I decided to share.

The original video had questions in the comments about the "Miranda Sings situation" so for those who don't remember, it happened during one of the reunion episodes. Areana told the audience that she had done her own makeup, and Kendall says, "No offense, but you look like Miranda Sings today." I'll link the clip in the comments

And she said it with no shame at all💀

Episode: Abby's Last Dance - Season 7 Special

The context was Bryan asking Abby what the reason was for her to undergo bariatric surgery.

Did anyone understand CADC's take on 'Chandelier'?

I rarely understand their group dances, but my confusion is usually about the storyline, not the costumes. Why are they dressed like that?

Kendall Vertes This Is Major Full Solo [Judged Version]

I genuinely can't tell which parts of this dance are Abby's hot-mess choreography and which parts are Kendall making it up as she goes.

Kendall was set up to struggle from the start with this routine. She's basically just moving this giant stick around, and it looks like it throws off her center every time she turns.

Something else I've noticed is that the music seems really difficult to dance to (I don't know if that makes sense). It feels like it's just looping over and over. It's loud, but there's almost no musical nuance, so if your mind goes blank for even a second, there's nothing in the music to help you find your place again.

Bryan Stinson posted this video on Instagram

Based on Chloe's costume it's probably episode 15 of season 2... now, tell me why did I get a jumpscare when I saw that crowd😅

Kaeli Ware - Angel (solo)

PERFORMANCE FROM LAST YEAR. Kaeli Ware was briefly featured in seasons 3 and 4 of the show, and her mom is now the coach on Dance Moms: New Era. Kaeli is also featured on the new show serving as an assistant choreographer.

I saw this comment on Instagram under a clip of JoJo's interview about her experience on the show with the other girls

(I know this interview is old, but I've never watched it in full, except for the ice cream story she shared that went viral. I don't remember watching the part I linked.)

In the video, JoJo talked about how the other girls told her she couldn't sing with them because she wasn't a good singer. She added that she's still self-conscious about her singing because of it to this day.

I realize that this comment may sound obvious now that I'm writing this post, but my initial thought was that it reminded me of that season 4 scene where Christi tells Melissa that Maddie told Chloe she "wasn't good anymore." That sounds almost word for word like what Abby had been telling the cameras throughout the entire season.

It made me reflect on how these girls spent their formative years surrounded by Abby's not-so-kind comments about their bodies, physiques, appearances, and abilities. On top of that, they were constantly exposed to their moms openly arguing with one another.

I'M NOT EXCUSING BULLYING. My point is that the environment seemed to normalize this kind of behavior among everyone involved, including the dancers themselves. It clearly left a much deeper imprint on these children than what was immediately visible.

I don't know what else Christi may have said about the Maddie/Chloe moment on BTTB because I don't listen to any of their podcasts. So please keep that in mind before commenting. That said, if she shared any additional context or useful information about that situation, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

Had Abby not been incarcerated, do you think the ALDC LA would have lasted?

With the move to Los Angeles, I thought Abby was aiming to improve her facility, but the moms were still complaining about the quality and quantity of classes even when the studio had already been up and running for a little under a year by the second half of Season 6.

In Episode 24 of Season 6, Jess complains that they do "many frivolous classes" like hip-hop, musical theatre, and tumbling instead of focusing on technique. Jill and Kira agreed.

Melissa answered on her YouTube channel that the reason her girls left the studio after leaving the show was because "the dancing there wasn't too good" and that it was basically there for filming purposes.

I'm not from the U.S., but a studio move from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles seems incredibly beneficial. However, it feels like Abby didn't adapt to the new location and was still making some of the same mistakes she made when she didn't have a permanent location in Season 5.

The LA location opened in May 2015 and closed in July 2017, around the same time Abby went to jail. The studio then downsized and moved to a smaller location on the same street. Now, apparently, it's a merch store with a small studio in the back.

Do you think the original ALDC LA location would have lasted if Abby hadn't gone to jail? I've seen people say that Abby's ""teaching style"" doesn't fit the West Coast. Is that true?

Sia's Nostalgic for the Present Tour Film featuring Maddie

For competitive dancers from smaller studios, what was considered an average level of technique?

I danced for almost a decade as a child, so I'm not really interested in the usual "Chloe is a better dancer than Maddie" debates.

What I'm actually curious about is the average technical level of dancers from smaller studios.

When Dance Moms first aired, I was still dancing, and my impression was that dance studios in the United States had incredibly high standards. Watching the girls on the show, I felt like I would never have been able to keep up with them.

I'm not hating on Nicaya at all. The reason I'm using her solo as an example is because I just finished watching that episode, and Kaya is very adamant that her daughter is extremely talented WHICH I'M NOT DENYING. However, it seems pretty clear that Nicaya's technique is not at the same level as the ALDC dancers, and that got me wondering whether my perception of dance standards in the U.S. was inaccurate.

Basically, I'm trying to understand what was considered "average" in the competitive dance world at the time. Is Nicaya closer to the average competitive dancer from a smaller studio, or is the ALDC closer to average? If the ALDC is average, which dancer from the show would you say best represents the typical technical standard?

English is not my first language so I hope that makes sense😅

Abby Says She Pushed for Senior Dancers to Join Dance Moms

Popped up on my FYP, so I thought I’d share it here.

I found it interesting that Abby mentioned she tried to get senior dancers who were “worthy of being on television” onto the show. She suggested having the A part of a season focus on the usual Dance Moms cast, while the B part would follow senior dancers. Does she not realize the ratings would probably have dropped considerably?

She also mentioned that the winner of Season 2 of Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition became a member of the ALDC senior company, alongside Kaeli Ware and Kamryn Beck. I honestly didn’t know they competed with the team that consistently.
