I honestly felt bad for Kaylee in S6

I can’t remember the episode but this is when Kaylee and her sisters joined the ALDC for a day and Kaylee danced with the mini’s. It seems that Kaylee was promised she would be dancing with the elites (based off of her clothing matching theirs) but was placed with the mini’s instead. Imagine being promised a team with girls/kids your own age but you’re placed with your little sisters instead. You can’t really blame her for her sour attitude (which to my understanding was edited heavily) They should’ve told her ahead of time what their plans were for Kaylee that day so she wouldn’t be set up for humiliation on national television, but no, the producers are all about terrible communication and villainizing children.

And this post isn’t about Jeannie’s social media post later/her saying negative things about the ALDC. It’s in defense of Kaylee and how her portrayal on S6 was awful.

HOT TAKE YOLANDA

I think Yolanda Walmsley is honestly the second worst mom on Dance Moms, with “Black Patsy” probably being number one. The way Yolanda treated Elliana Walmsley was genuinely uncomfortable to watch sometimes. Abby would be straight up cruel to Elliana, constantly putting pressure on her, criticizing her, or making her cry, and instead of defending her daughter, Yolanda would usually agree with Abby Lee Miller or act like it was somehow “helping” her. That mindset always bothered me because there’s a difference between pushing your kid to succeed and letting someone emotionally tear them down. A lot of the time it felt like Yolanda cared more about the opportunities and connections Abby could bring than how Elliana was actually feeling mentally and emotionally. It came across like she believed all the stress and treatment would be worth it if it made Elliana famous or successful. I know reality TV is edited and we don’t see everything behind the scenes, but from what was shown, Elliana often looked exhausted, overwhelmed, and anxious while her mom kept pushing her deeper into that environment. What also annoyed me was how Yolanda almost always backed Abby up, even when Abby was clearly being unfair. Most moms on the show would at least defend their kids at some point, but Yolanda would usually justify Abby’s behavior instead. I genuinely never understood what her end goal was supposed to be, because as a viewer it felt less like protecting her child and more like trying to chase fame through her daughter.

I love how Mellisa finally had balls in season 6, but she would’ve never talked like that if Christi was still on the team 🌚

Enough time has passed... what happened to Elevé?

With all the drama that happened . . . its been over a year now so what happened fully? Christi lately has been doing a lot of social media work (pr rebrand?) So is she expecting us to just forget about everything or have we just moved on

unpopular opinion: i didn’t like christi in season 7… here’s why 👀 i understand why people were excited to see her come back, but sometimes it felt like she came back with a lot of negativity and old drama 😭

instead of feeling like a fresh start, it felt like she immediately went back into fighting with people and bringing up the past there were moments where i agreed with her, but there were also times where it felt unnecessary and awkward, especially because the team dynamic had already changed so much by then

i also feel like some fans excuse everything christi did in season 7 because she’s a fan favorite 👀 but if another mom acted the same way, they probably would’ve gotten dragged way harder 😭

before people attack me i’m not saying christi was a terrible person because she definitely had valid reasons for feeling hurt after everything that happened on the show. i just personally think her return in season 7 felt more bitter than enjoyable sometimes

The Chloe fight season 4 nationals

Have other people spoken out about this fight?

What I know about it is what the episode portrays along with Abby saying something along the lines of fixing Chloe’s eye that was edited to be “your washed up” instead.

But I’m curious because in the clips you see Tia’s mom (from the select team) with Christi the entire time and Cathy and some of her moms there at the time of the evil comment (which could be edited to look like they were there during it bc the video is a bit choppy but it really looks like they all were there and heard it). So I’m curious if they ever spoke about the fight.

Either way, a bunch of people witnessed it that didn’t owe Abby anything after that episode considering the candy apples alr didn’t like her and the select team was cut right after.

Holly.

Sometimes I don't think people appreciate how careful Holly had to be with how she presents herself on TV relative to the other moms, solely because she's black. She's obviously highly educated and classy and that's her nature, but when people question why she didn't really "get in there" and fight like people think she should have, Holly's smart enough to know that 100% regardless of whatever her true personality is - she'd have been painted as the angry black woman. I'm not saying Christi and Kelly, who did speak up more and were more vocal were portrayed as particularly flattering either, it's just I think sometimes when talking about Holly people need to keep this in mind. She did not want to give the producers anything, especially early on, to feed this stereotype. The show was made in 2010, post Obama's election and the treatment of Michelle by the media despite her well documented class and education proves that all that doesn't matter, they'd have latched onto ANYTHING she gave them.

S4 EP33 (Chloe and Christi)

Am I the only one whose heart broke at seeing Chloe and Christi break down all because Abby had to stoop so low?

It’s one thing to criticize them, but it’s another to berate someone and make fun of their medical condition. And the fact that the producers edited the fight to make it seem like Abby said Chloe was washed up was even worse :/

How did we even take the competitions seriously

This is literally all the people at the awards ceremony for one of the competitions. . . There's like 15 people total?

Watching the announcer pretend to be suspenseful and the girls being surprised to win.. be for real

Why didn’t dance moms a new era take off?

Personally I don’t watch it because I think it’s too artificial compared to the original show. I know many other ppl in the fandom also don’t watch it. What’s your take?

stay at home & eat chips solo/episode discussion

abby's behavior this entire episode was stupid. clearly, she had some kind of beef with melissa or the other way around.

abby should know with years of teaching dance, that mackenzie's technical flaws can't be solved in three days. she literally could care less about mackenzie improving as a dancer until this episode.

although that probably saved mackenzie a lot of bad experiences as far as belittling, it's sad that abby didn't challenge her. she really improved in season 5 and that would have been the perfect time to start giving her more mature choreography, by season 6 i'm sure she would have been amazing.

honorable mention: abby throwing shade at maddie's teeth? it definitely gives jealous.

Have Kelly or Christi ever addressed this?

This is the second time I’ve heard her tell this story but the first time she mentioned that it was Kelly and that she had to drive Brooke and Paige home because Kelly was at a bar drinking with another mom i’m just assuming it was Christi i’m not sure what other mom it would be, but I’m curious if Kelly has ever commented on this?
