Insta and YouTube are full of matches between younger women, but that doesn’t give me a good idea of what I’m (49yo white belt) working towards. What should I be searching for? What are the regional and national competitions called?
I need a bag that can hold my gi & no-gi clothes, and all of the stuff - hair ties, bandaids, tape, mouthguard, backup everything - in some organized way. Any recommendations?
I'm new to BJJ, about 4 weeks in. I'm the only woman in my gym. I'm triple-uncomfortable being a beginner, and am motivated to quickly learn wtf I'm doing so I don't get smashed once I'm allowed to roll.
I've been going to 5-6 classes per week, and am not retaining all of the material as well as I want to. We might learn 3-4 new techniques in each class, and get about 5 tries at it during class. I can't do open-mat yet, so it's really hard for me to get more practice time in. Even if I could do open mat, I could only get 6 min x 1 or 2 from a few people willing to "donate" their time to me.
I'm wondering if it would be strange for me to ask someone if they would want to meet me at the gym ~once/week to practice/drill-to-death the techniques we learned in class? Does anyone else do this?
