Gap semester/year

Hi, I’m a 24F. I spent the last few years studying STEM on and off with the intention of completing my program in 2027. Unexpected traumas of the last year led me to burn out and now I’m questioning if STEM, specifically the medical field, is still for me or if it’s just exhaustion. My university made changes to my program prolonging graduation by another 2 years.

After much internal back n forth I found it best to take a gap semester. (or year pending my needs) I am out of concerning circumstances and can now reassess my life.

My goals are to address the personal issues that are hindering my academic progress and figure out what degree path is truly for me. Along with some overdue self discovery. After studying and working for so long thru extenuating circumstances idk what my interests are fully cuz I don’t indulge in them. I don’t have hobbies. I’d like more experiences that center joy, personal growth, and learning all I can about me. I want to try new things, add healthy structure to my life, and allow myself to have fun.

Please drop recs on things I could try or how to navigate 4 months of free time. Hobby recs and skills to develop are cool too. Volunteering suggestions? Etc.

So far Ik I like:
-listening to music
-fashion styling
-sometimes fashion history
-cooking/baking
-social history and advocacy
-going dancing

r/ STEM to fashion. I’m so conflicted

I am 24 studying Biology and am burnt out. I think I lost my why (motivation) for the sciences. Like to the point where I can’t finish assignments I am capable of. I am deeply considering pivoting into fashion design or product development (still in fashion). I have 0 degree/certs. I would need another 2-3 years to complete this Biology degree but I don’t think I can do it anymore. I have the skills, intelligence, and potential to do well in science but I feel fried and don’t want to commit myself to 2-3 years of hard work when I won’t be happy with the degree or career. What fashion related degrees/ schools do you recommend? What entry level jobs in fashion do you recommend? What skills should I develop if I seriously want to work in fashion. Questions I should ask myself? Plans to financially support myself while changing degree paths?

I am interested in fashion design/product development

I have 0 technical skills in fashion. Design or operations/business related (like PLM).

I’m based in the US

I really need help. I think I’m young enough to pivot and figure it out but I don’t want to move aimlessly. I want real expectations so that I can create real goals for myself. The point of this post is to better understand what kind of life and career I want. Also what steps I should/could take to figure out my wants and get there.
