How have shamanic practices helped you? How have they harmed you?

It's all in the title. I'm also interested in answer sis question that might be a little more ambiguous and open to interpretation like a mixed bag sort of thing.

I tried quitting but it was just too painful

I quit for about a week and I ended up feeling incredibly emotionally overwhelmed and hypersensitive. It made me realize that I've been using gaming as a way of numbing myself in order to survive. I'm a very sensitive person and unfortunately the world is not kind to people like me. After quitting for a week I found myself incredibly emotionally overwhelmed by just everything about life. Without games to numb myself life just felt way too overwhelming to tolerate. As a result of cravings overwhelming to the point where I gave in. I can't imagine any realistic scenario where I would be emotionally supported to the point where I could get through that. Can't imagine what my life will be like if I could actually adapt to that. Maybe if I were a woman it will be easier but I'm a guy and guys need to be able to act stable and suppress emotion in order to be social acceptable. I don't think I could ever possibly do that without numbing myself with something like video games.

At this point in my life I think it's better to focus on finding stable employment going out on socializing more, exercising and adding more positive things to my life rather than quitting video games. Because during the week of quitting I just found myself scrolling and watching YouTube way too much as a substitute. I found a sponsor on GAA but his problems were so minimal compared to mine. He quit video games and got his own house and became a music teacher. For me it'll take a lot more than that to put together a halfway decent life.

I also consider my overall screen addiction almost as detrimental as my gaming addiction. To be clear I do recognize that my game addiction does take on life of its own and drain me beyond its emotionally numbing utility. It's I find addressing my overall screen addiction completely impossible because I'm constantly surrounded by people for chronically on their phones. I spent 3 weeks on a commune last year where phones in public areas was banned. People are pleasant and I found it nice to have a break for my phone but once I got on the train home surrounded by everyone on their phone it felt like this traumatic experience and I drove right back into screen addiction like nothing happened. How am I supposed to cure my screen addiction when I'm surrounded by screen addicts who won't talk to me like a human being? Would you ask a drug addict to spend all day every day in crack houses and expect them to maintain their sobriety?

I wish life didn't feel so painful. Then this wouldn't be so hard
