Vacation blend

Going on a short holliday with the family and they all do like it when i make cocktails. I want to create a few different cocktails but not bring along a dozen of bottles so i decided to make this vacation blend:

300 ml doorly

30 ml Appleton

200 ml stiggings

100 ml smith and cross

100 ml wray and nephew.

I just mixed it together and will let it rest now. I did do a quick taste and smell test. The wray is hitting you first thing but then the others also come through.

Really curious how this will turn out in two days.

And then i only need to get some small bottles to bring along the falernum, orgeat, triple sec, allspice dram, syrups......... so still a lot of bottles but less then if i would have needed to bring along all the individual rum ones!

Jet pilot

Really happy with the results of this version. I feel these rums work really well together making it a well balanced cocktail. Sweet, dark, heavy but also very fruitful from the white grapefruit and the lime. and when all of that is gone you have this really nice rum aftertaste.

Fancy corn and oil

Seems my earlier post didn't include a photo, so reposting.

As by the title made a corn and oil with a stiggings fancy and it was good. The butterscotch (?) Flavors of the rum were really well pronounced, a little less dry then with a doorly. I would recommend this is a drink for people that don't want anything fancy (hue hue) but still like their drink to be tropical flavored.

ingredients:

2 oz planteray stiggings fancy

0.5 oz falernum

a few dashes of angustora.

Fancy corn and oil

As by the title, a corn and oil made with a stiggings fancy. This really make caramel/butterscotch (?) Of the stiggings shiny. I really like it

Today's cocktails

Ti punch

Painkiller

Jungle bird

Painkiller for the whife (virgin version for my son not captured). Jungle bird en ti-punch for me.

I had a sip of the Painkiller while i was having my Jungle bird and then you really notice how heavy and powerful the pushers is in a cocktail. Even with all those juices and coconut it just cuts through it all.

I really like the bitterness of the Jungle bird, nice and fresh for a warm day.

SC Corn and oil friday

I dont have a swizzle stick so had to so with a regular spoon. Combined with a pre chilled glass got tje job done.

What i find interesting is that im tasting, the angustora, falernum and rum all at once. None of the flavors are really taking over. I think this is a great sipping cocktail for a nice warm summer day.

Made a ancient mariner for myself and a mail tai for my wife which she really liked.

Im actually blown away by the ancient mariner. First is that sweet taste of the rums and the syrup, a hint of karamel in there but then that fades away and you taste the allspice dram. But then the sweetness of the rums come back again with just a little hint of bitterness from the grapefruit.

I think this just made my favorite cocktails top 5!

In addition to this i made for my wife an adjusted planters punch with the following

  • stigging fancy
  • Blackwell fine jamaican
  • Smith and cross
  • Wray and nephew
  • Fresh pineapple juice
  • Lime juice
  • Rich Demara syrup
  • Grenadine

Yes it was sweet but still a good rum flavor to it and she loved it.

As the title says, weve been at a resort and my wife really likes the planters punch here. Think, very sweet, allmost no sour and light on the rum.

Which means that when she gets home she wants that type of planters punch.

Any of you got suggestions to still make a good tiki version while keeping the same mind of vibe?

Thank you!
