From Harper’s Bazaar… just not buying it…

I know we’re all focused on the “20 Years of Taylor” part, but I think what hit me most today was realizing how much life has happened during those twenty years.

I was 16 when Debut came out, and Taylor is only three months older than I am, which means we’ve basically spent the last twenty years moving through the same decades at the same time.

So…. we’re essentially the same person lol… I mean, sure: Taylor is a billionaire, one of the most successful artists in history, and appears to be living her best life with a Super Bowl champion.

I got dumped after a ten-year engagement, moved back in with my mom at 36, and recently spent an embarrassing amount of time analyzing a yellow floral dress like it contained classified government documents.

So, considering where we both are in life, I’d say we’re doing equally well 🤣🤣🤣.

But seriously, twenty years is a LONG time.
When Debut came out, we were on MySpace. We printed MapQuest directions. Streaming didn’t exist. Most of us thought we’d have our lives figured out by now.

Which is hilarious in retrospect.

Since then, people have fallen in love, gotten married, gotten divorced, had kids, lost parents, lost friends, changed careers, changed cities, changed dreams, and become people they never expected to become.

And somehow there was always a Taylor album somewhere in the background. Not because Taylor wrote songs specifically about our lives (she didn’t), not because she knows who we are (she doesn’t), and not because every single thing she’s ever done is a secret message personally addressed to us.

It’s because music attaches itself to memories whether we want it to or not. You hear a song and suddenly you’re seventeen again, or twenty-two, or sitting in your car crying over a man who absolutely did not deserve that level of emotional commitment, or a friend you gave your whole heart to who turned around and broke it in a completely different way… hypothetically, of course.

I think that’s why this anniversary feels emotional.

Not because Taylor has been around for twenty years, but because WE have.

And somehow the girl singing Tim McGraw became one of the biggest artists in history while a bunch of us were busy growing up alongside the music she gave us so freely.

Anyway, happy 20 years to Taylor.

And my deepest condolences to everyone who just realized Debut came out twenty years ago, because I personally reject that information and will not be accepting further questions at this time.

She is so naturally beautiful, funny, and I love these random pics I found on her Facebook page while definitely NOT bored lol… also can we can a second and look at how YOUNG Bieber is in the 14th picture 🤣 BABY!! Makes me feel SO old lol 🫶🏻🦋🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🦋🫶🏻

Can you imagine just walking around your neighborhood and you walk into Mother’s date night!! I’d 💀 ! Both are giving vibes, and I love it!!!
