🐾 Is your cat hesitant about the enclosed PetSnowy? Here are some easy training tips! 🐾

Hi PetSnowy family! We know that transitioning to a new litter box can be a big deal for our feline friends. Because the PetSnowy automatic litter box has an enclosed design, some cats might feel a little scared of the confined space at first. This can sometimes lead to them peeing right at the entrance instead of fully stepping inside.

Don't worry, this is completely normal! Cats are naturally cautious. Here is a step-by-step guide to help your kitty feel safe and comfortable using their new PetSnowy:

- 🔓 Step 1: Go Topless

Start by completely removing the top cover of the litter box. This turns it into an open-top box, making it much less intimidating for your cat to explore and get used to the new litter bed.

- 🚪 Step 2: The Semi-Enclosed Phase

Once your cat is confidently using the open litter box, you can put the top cover back on. However, remove the front door curtain for now. This provides them with a clear line of sight and an easy escape route, which greatly reduces their anxiety.

Patience is key! Give your furry friend a little time to adjust, and they will be a PetSnowy pro before you know it. Have you successfully trained your cat to use an enclosed box? Share your best tips in the comments below! 👇✨

🐾 Wondering why your PetSnowy litter box weight readings fluctuate? Here’s why!

Hi PetSnowy family! We sometimes get questions about the weight sensor on the PetSnowy automatic litter box showing varying numbers. Don't worry, your litter box is working perfectly fine! Here’s a quick explanation of how our weight tracking works and why you might see some differences.

First things first: The built-in weight sensor is designed to help you track your cat's general health trends, but it is not a precision medical scale. A normal deviation of approximately -400g to +300g (about -0.88 lbs to +0.66 lbs) is completely normal and expected.

If you're noticing larger fluctuations, it usually comes down to your cat's unique bathroom habits:

- 🐈 Multiple cats at once: If two of your furry friends decide to enter at the same time, the device will read their combined weight.

- 🐾 Partial entry: If a curious cat just sticks a paw or part of its body inside the entrance, the reading will naturally be lower than their full weight.

- 🐈‍⬛ Partial contact/Leaning: If your cat is only half-inside or leans against the edge of the litter box, the detected weight will be less than what they actually weigh.

- 📍 Different positions: The four weight sensors are located at the bottom of the unit. Depending on where your cat stands or rests like sitting inside the globe, hanging out at the entrance, or even resting on top of the bonnet, the detected weight may vary.

How we calculate the weight: To give you the most accurate estimate, the system measures the weight over a 60-second window around the time your cat enters or exits. It then calculates an average between the maximum and minimum readings recorded during that time.

We hope this helps clarify how the smart weight feature works! Let us know if you have any questions below. 👇✨

✨ Say goodbye to litter box odors! Tips for keeping your PetSnowy smelling fresh ✨

Hi PetSnowy family! Keeping your home smelling fresh while managing a litter box can sometimes feel like a challenge. Luckily, your PetSnowy automatic litter box is equipped with some amazing features to keep odors at bay!

If you are noticing a bit of a smell, here is our ultimate checklist to keep your PetSnowy clean and your home smelling great:

- 🗑️ Empty the waste drawer regularly: The number one rule of odor control! Make sure to change the waste bag based on your cat's usage frequency. If you have multiple cats, you will need to change it more often to prevent odors from building up.

- 📱 Utilize the Deodorization feature: Did you know you can control odors right from your phone? Go to your PetSnowy app and set up a "Schedule Deodorization" to keep things fresh automatically throughout the day. You can also manually tap the deodorize button in the app anytime you feel it needs an extra boost!

- 🌸 Replace the fragrance box: The built-in fragrance box works wonders for neutralizing smells. Don't forget to regularly replace the fragrance insert so it can continue to release a fresh, pleasant scent.

- 🧽 Monthly deep clean: Even with automatic scooping, dust and residue can build up over time. We highly recommend giving your PetSnowy litter box a thorough deep clean once a month. Empty out all the old litter, wipe down the inside of the globe, and let it dry completely before refilling.

A little routine maintenance goes a long way. What are your favorite tips for keeping your litter box setup clean? Let us know in the comments! 👇🐈

[Discussion] We designed our doorbell for security, but we found out what you are ACTUALLY using it for 👀

Hey r/Botslab.

Let’s get the serious stuff out of the way: the goal of Botslab video doorbells has always been home security and package monitoring. Motion alerts, recording strangers, making sure your packages don't get stolen. We take that part seriously.

But after reading community threads (and watching our own team's habits), we noticed something funny.

You use these doorbells in ways we never imagined.

For example:

🍔 The Introvert's Shield

Some of you use the live feed to watch the delivery driver drop the food on the porch. Then... you stay still, waiting until their car leaves the neighborhood before opening the door. Same for packages. Same for salespeople. For you, the doorbell isn't just anti-theft; it's anti-small-talk.

🚛 The Curiosity Monitor

Then there is another group of users. You open the live feed at 6 AM just to watch the garbage truck work. How it stops, how the mechanical arm grabs the bin, dumps it, and drives away. Some people watch stray cats jumping fences or just watch the rain. Aside from security, the doorbell became a 24/7 slow-TV channel for your front yard.

So here is the truth:

We built a solid security device. And you turned it into a social anxiety shield + a curiosity monitor.

We aren't judging. We support it. If it makes your day easier or more entertaining, that counts as home security too.

🗳️ Quick poll: Which category do you fall into?

A. Pure Security — I only check it for packages and strangers.

B. The Introvert — I wait until the delivery guy drives away before opening the door.

C. The Observer — I use it to watch garbage trucks, raccoons, and the weather.

D. A mix of everything.

Drop your letter below and share your funniest "non-security" use of your Botslab products. (Don't be shy, we've seen it all 👇)

[Official Guide] R810 SE Solar Panel: How to achieve true Set It and Forget It 🔋☀️

Hey r/Botslab_Official . Let's talk about the solar panel accessory for the R810 SE doorbell.

A lot of you want to avoid taking the doorbell down to charge. With the right setup, you can keep the battery topped up so you never have to plug it in.

Let's look at the numbers. The R810 SE has a 5200mAh battery. On the lowest power setting (about 10 triggers a day), it lasts roughly 150 days on a single charge. The official 3W solar panel only needs about 2 hours of direct sunlight per day to cover that daily power draw.

In short: mount it right, and the doorbell maintains its charge. (Side note: If you pair the Botslab solar panel with other doorbell brands, it works to achieve the exact same result.)

How do you get the most out of your panel? Here are 4 practical tips from our engineers:

1.The 2-Hour Baseline

The panel needs about 2 hours of direct sunlight daily to offset standard usage (10 to 20 triggers). Indirect or ambient light slows the battery drain, but it is hard to maintain a 100% charge long term. Try to find a spot that gets direct sun.

2.Angle and Direction

For the Northern Hemisphere: Aim the panel due south.

The Winter Shift: The winter sun sits lower in the sky. A spot that works perfectly in summer might be shaded by your roof in winter. You can tilt the bracket slightly upward to catch those low-angle winter rays.

Simple rule: Face the panel directly at the sun in whichever direction gets the longest sustained sunlight.

3.Reduce False Wakes

This is crucial. If your panel charges 5% a day but the doorbell wakes up 80 times because of cars or moving shadows, the battery will still drain. Since the R810 SE does not use drawn motion zones, here is how you reduce false wakes:

Physical Angle Tweak: Tilt the doorbell downward by about 15 degrees. Focus the lens strictly on your porch area to cut out the distant street or green belts. Avoiding frequent traffic or swaying bushes cuts down on false alarms.

Sensitivity Adjustment: Go to App → Motion Detection → Sensitivity. Lowering the overall sensitivity prevents distant vehicles or animals from causing empty triggers. This is a great fix if your front yard is busy.

Time-Based DND: If you get constant false alarms during specific times like rush hour, enable Do Not Disturb (App → Settings → Do Not Disturb). Mute triggers during those times to save battery.

4.Keep It Clean

Dust, pollen, and water spots act as physical blocks for sunlight. Wiping the panel surface with a microfiber cloth every few months improves charging efficiency. A clean panel works better.

Where did you mount your solar panel? Right above the doorbell, or did you run the extension cable to the roof?

Drop your setup photos in the comments below. If you run into any setup issues, leave a comment and we will help you troubleshoot. 👇

Night visibility and plate blowout is the ultimate test for any dash cam

Hey folks,

Night driving is where you really find out if a dash cam is actually good. Between the blinding glare of oncoming headlights and pitch black roads, your camera is doing a massive amount of work just to balance the image.

The absolute worst part is plate blowout. This happens when your own headlights reflect directly off a license plate and it turns into a glowing white rectangle. The numbers are completely gone right when you might need them most.

When our team was developing the Botslab G980H, this was the single biggest headache we wanted to fix. We spent months tweaking the dynamic range and low light processing just to pull those numbers out of the glare. If you want to see how the 4K handles these high contrast night situations, you can check out the specs on our site. (https://www.botslab.com/products/g980h-4-camera-dash-cam-bundle-cpl-filter-type-c-hardwire-kit)

What is the worst lighting situation you guys deal with on your daily commute? Let us know what you think still needs fixing in the dash cam world when the sun goes down.

why are moms so hard to buy for?? i have 2 days left lol

i am seriously struggling with a mothers day gift this year. my mom is one of those people who says she doesnt want anything but then complains about her neck and shoulders being stiff literally every day.

i was looking at those massage guns but im worried they're too heavy or loud for her to actually use. i saw that bob and brad make a mini one that has a heated head, which sounds like something she might actually like since she basically lives on her heating pad.

but has anyone actually given one of these to their parents? is the heat actually decent or is it just a gimmick? she usually hates gym tech so i dont want to waste money if its too intense for a 60 year old. if you have any other ideas for a picky mom with chronic neck tension please let me know. I'm running out of time.

App Update Megathread: Tell us your absolute number one feature request 🛠️

Hey r/Botslab, this is the product team over at Botslab.

We are sketching out the roadmap for the next major app update right now. Instead of guessing what you guys actually want, we figured it’s better to just ask you directly. We know the app isn't perfect yet and we are ready to listen.

Before you drop your thoughts, please mention which device you are using. Let us know if it is a dash cam, a doorbell, or a security cam. Knowing your exact setup helps us reproduce those annoying bugs much faster.

We are looking for your honest feedback in these three areas.

The Game Changers What is the one missing feature that would make a huge difference for you? Tell us about the stuff you wish you had every time you open the app.

QoL Fixes What existing features are just clunky or cause a lot of friction? We are talking about menus that take way too many taps, delayed push notifications, or when the local SD playback feels laggy.

The Dealbreakers What parts of the UI drive you absolutely crazy? Tell us what makes zero sense or what part of the app you hate using the most.

Our product managers are lurking in this thread and we will be reading every single reply. We can’t promise to fix everything by tomorrow, but the most upvoted and realistic ideas will go straight to the top of our priority list for the next sprint.

Let's build a better Botslab app together. Roast us in the comments, we are taking notes.
