I’m curious about the gifts that made you think, “Wow, they really pay attention to me”—even if they didn’t cost much.

Was it something you’d mentioned once and forgotten? An everyday item chosen exactly to your taste? Or something the giver made?

I’d love to hear what the gift was and the little detail that made it feel personal. Those stories are often more helpful for finding gift ideas than another list of “things everyone likes.”

Okay guys, I need your advice!

Someone very special to me has a birthday coming up, and I want to get him something thoughtful. We haven’t known each other for very long, so I don’t want to go overboard or get him anything too grand, but I do want it to be something he’ll genuinely appreciate.He loves the outdoors, camping, hiking, exploring new places, and good coffee. The problem is that he already has a lot of quality gear, so I’m struggling to think of something he doesn’t already own or wouldn’t just buy for himself.

I’d love to get him something that’s either practical and useful or something a little more sentimental that he can hold onto. I’m already planning to write him a handwritten birthday card because I know that means a lot to him, but I’d like to pair it with a little gift, too.
I’ve thought about things like a quality camping coffee setup, but he already has most of the things along those lines.

So, outdoorsy guys, what’s something you’d genuinely love to receive? Or ladies, what have you gotten a guy with similar interests that went over really well? I’m open to any ideas, whether it’s something useful, unique, sentimental, or something I might not have thought of!

Struggling with what to get my 29F girl best friend for her birthday in two weeks. We both have well paying jobs, have been friends for 11 years and for context, my wedding gift for her and her partner this summer was a nice grill on their registry ($400).

She is so so good at giving gifts - for my birthday, she booked us a craft date with this local jeweler and we made rings together! we were able to make whatever we wanted and they didn't need to match which was so fun

last year, I got her a few self care items following a Europe trip (Nuxe body oils, Laneige lip, Caudalie lotions) and she liked it all except the Nuxe body oil wasn't good for her sensitive skin. she is super crafty following a ton of Wedding DIY's and our hangouts consist of making clay objects, crafting some DIY project like pumpkin painting/carving, candle making, etc.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Attention from all the girlies. My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and I want to shock her. I know about thoughtful gifts that are personal to her but I want to hear what niche gifts would leave you speechless if you saw.
For example, I remember going shopping and she had quite a long stare at this make up product and said “this is what I want but not rn I have to finish the ones I already have” and so I took a photo while she wasn’t looking to buy it for her. Never in 1,000,000 years would I have thought that would be a good gift. As it was so small and simple looking.

So I want to hear what’s a niche birthday gift you would be shocked to see as you would have never guessed how he knew?

Suggestions on gifts your colleagues as a token of appreciation… they all are planning a surprise party for me as I’m leaving the company (which is no more a surprise ) but I was just thinking if I can gift something to them… may be personalised? Idk I’m confused

One of my nieces has a spring birthday. I've made it a tradition to get her caterpillars that turn into butterflies every year. Now her sister wants butterflies but she has a fall birthday. I'm looking at Storyworth as a gift for my uncle (73) and I keep seeing two kinds of reviews. Some people love it and say the book arrived and the whole family cried reading it. Others say the weekly emails piled up, their parent answered maybe three of them, and the year ran out with a half-empty book.

The thing I can't tell from reviews is what makes the difference. Is it the person receiving it? The family member nudging them along? The format of the questions themselves?

If you've gifted it, did it get finished? And if it didn't, where did it stall, did they stop answering prompts, or did they answer but never get around to reviewing the draft?

I'm trying to figure out if it's the right format for someone who has plenty of stories but has never sat down to write anything longer than a birthday card.

What would be a good gift for a South Korean Buddhist man in his mid-40s? He enjoys wine, so I was thinking of getting him some traditional Korean wine with a matching drinking set, or perhaps some tea. However, I’m not really sure what kinds of wine or tea are popular in South Korea. Any recommendations?

Here is what I know about her:

•She is a heavy cigarette smoker and always smokes while sitting in her walker on her front porch (so maybe something to make her smoke breaks more comfortable?)

•Her parents were immigrants from Guam and she seems to value her heritage and traditional food

That’s pretty much it.

Her children have said she’s difficult to shop for and said I don’t need to worry about getting her a gift, but I feel like she should have something for such a big milestone birthday, even if it’s just a gift card or a carton of cigarettes or something. (Personally, I hate cigarettes and would normally never dream of giving them as a gift, but the woman is 75 and I’m not going to judge her lifestyle choices at this point.)

Hey everyone! My family takes Secret Santa very seriously and every year has a different theme. This year it's by gender, and I drew "a man" (no name, I won't know who gets it). 😅
The possible recipients:

Grandpa (70s)
A guy in his early 30s
A guy in his late 20s
Possibly a 19-year-old
(My brother gets his own separate gift, so he's out)

The gift doesn't need to fit a specific age range. People will probably swap gifts at the end anyway, so it should be something almost any guy would be happy to get.

I'm looking for gift ideas for my partner who is a computer scientist (he works on supercomputers in a lab). I'm running out of ideas year after year as he has very specific tastes : he doesn't like board games or "useless stuff" (his words) such as trinkets or fan merch (even though he is very into stuff like Dr. Who, Stargate, Star Trek and so on). He loves trains and planes (I already gifted him the Concorde Lego set). He's in his late 30s, loves tea and coffee and is very very passionate (I'd say obsessed) about anything computer obviously.

Any nerdy man here who help me find the perfect gifts ? What were the gifts you received you loved the most ?

Mum's birthday is coming and I want to break a losing streak.

Past attempts: a spa day voucher she let expire, a very nice robe that lives in the closet, and an aromatherapy diffuser that ran for about a week. All well received in the moment and all quietly dead within two months.

I think the problem is I keep buying her the idea of relaxing. What she'd actually use is something she can pick up without thinking about it.

So I want something practical that actually kept using months later. Do you guys have any awesome gifts, especially for someone who works on her feet all day and doesn't sit still easily.
