Google account recovery keeps sending verification codes to the locked Gmail account and never lets
Hi everyone,
I'm completely locked out of my Google account and I don't know what else to try.
My account is still active, but I cannot sign in.
Here's what happens every time:
I enter my Gmail address.
Google never asks for my password.
Instead, it immediately starts account recovery.
It asks me to enter a verification code that is sent to the same Gmail account that I'm locked out of.
Since I can't access that Gmail account, I can't get the code.
If I choose other recovery options, Google eventually says there are no available methods or it only continues sending the code to the locked Gmail.
The strange part is that I had:
- 2-Step Verification enabled
- A recovery phone number linked to the account
- A recovery email set up
However, even though my phone number is still linked to the account, Google never gives me the option to receive a verification code via SMS or phone call. It only tries to send a code to the locked Gmail account, which I cannot access.
I was using my usual Windows PC and iPhone before being signed out.
I also never get prompted for:
- my password
- Google Authenticator code
- backup codes
- or my recovery phone number
It feels like I'm stuck in a recovery loop where only the inaccessible Gmail inbox is used.
Has anyone experienced this exact issue?
If you managed to recover your account:
- How did you get Google to offer the phone number option?
- Did waiting a few days or using a trusted device help?
- Is there any way to force Google to try SMS or recovery phone instead?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
