My Tinder date lasted exactly 12 minutes

I matched with a guy who seemed really funny over text, so after a few days we decided to grab coffee.

He got there before me and texted, “I’m the guy in the black hoodie.”

I walked into the café and immediately saw him.

We made eye contact. He smiled. I smiled.

Then he stood up and said, “Oh… you’re not who I thought you were.”

I laughed because I assumed he was joking.

He wasn't.

Apparently, he had been talking to another girl on Tinder with almost the exact same name as me, and he had accidentally made plans with both of us for the same afternoon.

The other girl was actually sitting two tables away.

We both realized what happened at the same time.

I looked at her, she looked at me, and we just started laughing.

He apologized about ten times and left.

I stayed for the coffee because, honestly, at that point I had already gotten dressed for the date and I wasn't wasting the outfit.

The Date That Made Me Delete the Apps

I matched with a guy who seemed completely normal, and after a few days of texting, we decided to meet at a little coffee shop downtown. The date was actually going really well until he suddenly looked at me and said, “You’re exactly how I imagined you’d be.”

I laughed and asked what he meant, but he just smiled and changed the subject. Later that night, I checked his dating profile again and noticed something strange: one of his photos had been taken inside the exact coffee shop where we had just met.

The photo was dated three months before our date.

I almost cancelled this Tinder date because I honestly wasn’t expecting much.

We had been messaging for about a week, but the conversation was pretty normal. Nothing particularly exciting.

When we finally met, I immediately noticed he was much quieter in person. For the first 20 minutes, I thought the date was going to be awkward.

Then our waiter accidentally brought us someone else’s food.

Instead of complaining, we decided to eat whatever they had brought us and pretend we were food critics reviewing a restaurant we’d never heard of.

We started laughing so hard that the awkwardness completely disappeared.

After dinner, we walked around for almost two hours just talking about random things. No fancy plans, no expensive drinks, nothing special.

When I got home, I realized something:

The best Tinder dates aren't always the ones with perfect chemistry from the beginning.

Sometimes they're the ones where you both end up being comfortable enough to be completely ridiculous.

I’ve been talking to this girl I met through a dating app for about a month.

Our first date went really well. We got coffee, walked around for a few hours, and ended up talking until the place was almost closing. She told me she had a great time, and later that night she texted me saying she’d like to see me again.

We made plans for the following weekend, but the day before, she canceled because something came up with her family. I told her it was completely fine.

The strange part is that she never suggested another day.

I waited a few days and asked if she wanted to reschedule. She said, “Yeah, definitely! This week is just crazy.”

Another week passed.

We still text occasionally, and when I message her, she responds pretty quickly. She also sometimes starts conversations herself. But whenever I bring up meeting again, she becomes vague.

I don't want to pressure her or keep asking if she's not interested.

At the same time, I feel like there might actually be something there because our conversations are still good.

Should I ask her one more time and be direct about it, or should I just stop initiating and see if she makes an effort?

I honestly can't tell if she's genuinely busy or just trying to let me down gently.

I live on the top floor of my building.

There is no apartment above mine.

That's why I couldn't explain the footsteps.

Every night at exactly 2:14 a.m., I heard someone walking across my ceiling.

Slow footsteps.

Three steps from the bedroom window to the door.

Then three steps back.

At first, I blamed the pipes. Then I complained to the landlord.

He went completely silent when I mentioned it.

Finally, he said, “Don't worry about it. Just don't knock on the ceiling.”

Of course, I asked why.

He wouldn't answer.

A week later, the footsteps started getting louder.

One night, I heard something drag across the ceiling.

Then came three knocks.

I don't know why, but I knocked back.

Three knocks.

Silence.

Then five knocks.

I answered with five.

The footsteps stopped.

For the first time in weeks, I slept peacefully.

Until the next morning.

There were five wet footprints on my bedroom ceiling.

They started above my bed and ended at my bedroom door.

I called the landlord.

He arrived twenty minutes later, took one look at the ceiling, and immediately told me to leave.

“What happened here?” I asked.

He finally told me the truth.

Twenty years ago, the building had only two floors.

A man lived in the apartment above mine.

He died there.

His body was never found.

“The third floor was built later,” the landlord whispered.

I stared at him.

“Then why can I hear someone walking above me?”

He looked terrified.

“Because you're not hearing someone above you.”

He pointed at my bedroom floor.

“You're hearing him underneath you.”

That night, at exactly 2:14 a.m., I heard footsteps coming from beneath my bed.

Three steps toward the door.

Three steps back.

Then five knocks against the floor.

This time, I didn't answer.

Something underneath whispered:

“Why did you stop?”

My Tinder Date Recognized Me… From a Very Embarrassing Place

I matched with a guy on Tinder who seemed really funny and normal. We talked for about a week before deciding to meet for drinks.

Everything was going great until he suddenly looked at me and said:

“Wait… I know you.”

I laughed and said, “I don’t think so.”

He looked confused for a few seconds.

Then he asked, “Were you at the supermarket on Tuesday?”

I said yes.

He started laughing.

Apparently, he worked there.

That would have been fine.

Except I had absolutely embarrassed myself in that supermarket.

Earlier that week, I had been carrying a huge bag of cat food when the bottom ripped open. Cans went rolling everywhere. I slipped trying to catch one and accidentally knocked over a display of toilet paper.

He had been one of the employees who helped me clean everything up.

I wanted the ground to swallow me.

He just smiled and said, “Honestly, I almost canceled this date because I thought you might be the toilet-paper girl.”

I laughed so hard that I nearly spilled my drink.

We ended up having a great night.

We’re still dating.

And yes, he still calls me “Toilet Paper” whenever I embarrass myself.

I guess Tinder really does bring people together… sometimes through humiliation.

My first date with my girlfriend was supposed to last thirty minutes.

We met at a small coffee shop after matching on a dating app. I was nervous, so I arrived early.

She arrived ten minutes late, sat down, looked at me and immediately said, “I have to warn you, I'm terrible at first dates.”

I laughed and said, “That's okay. I'm probably worse.”

Five minutes later, I accidentally knocked my drink over.

All over the table.

Then she tried to help me clean it up and somehow knocked over her own drink.

We just stared at the disaster and started laughing.

After that, everything went wrong.

The café ran out of the dessert we wanted. It started raining when we left. I forgot my umbrella. We ended up getting completely soaked walking to the bus stop.

At one point she looked at me and said, “This is probably the worst date I've ever been on.”

I thought she meant it was over.

Then she smiled and added, “But somehow, I'm having the most fun.”

That was three years ago.

We're still together.

And every year on our anniversary, we go back to that same coffee shop and deliberately order the drinks we spilled.
