Help - Where to cut

I got these Elephant Ears less than 2 weeks ago. The lady I bought it from said it would love morning light so I put it in front of my house (facing east) on a Wednesday. That Sunday morning, I noticed some light spots on the leaves and by the time I got home from work, they looked like this. I brought them inside to not continue getting sunburnt(?) and they've continued looking worse throughout this week, minus the new growth that has been thriving and the biggest leaf seems stable. She did say that the first leaf (first pic, bottom right) would eventually die and allow for new growth. I haven't watered at all since bringing it inside on Sunday as the soil is still moist. My question is, where do I cut the dying leaves off? Closer to the leaf, closer to the base, etc? I want to do what I can to keep this plant alive and flourishing!
