I’ve got a very old and large rubber plant that for two months has had gradual yellowing and dropping of leaves.
Leaves in the lower half of plant have been gradually getting stippled then yellow then fall. I’ve lost 5-6 in two months. Growth was good until the most recent leaf on the main stem. Branch growth still seems ok.
It’s in a south facing window in the UK and gets good sun all day. It’s in a large pot with drainage holes - I’ve checked roots and it’s not root bound. I wondered if poor watering and UK heatwaves had caused stress but it’s only gotten worse despite moving it away from window. I’ve not got loads of evidence for pests (no webs, no obvious signs under leaves) but am at a loss.
I wondered if
- nutrient defiency (but fed a month ago and has only worsened) hadn’t really fed before that
- sun burn/ watering stress? But have been very careful for two months and it’s only worsened. Tried moving away from window and shutting blind in heatwave/full sun days.
Help! I love my tree.
Hi, I was given this plant about two months ago, and it was nearly dead. New shoots appeared about a week later, but after a month or so, the new leaves ended up looking like the ones in the photo.
It’s 35°C outside here in Italy, so I’ve been keeping it in a shady spot under a firewood canopy and it doesn’t take any direct sun during the day.
I watering it every 2–3 days (though I discovered that my father was watering it every evening while he watered his own plants).
Is it taking too much water or what else?
Thank youuuu
I found mushy base this morning and cut it off.
Question:
Just bought this from Lowes. What can I do about the dark spots on the new baby leaves?
Hey guys as of a week ago a couple of leaves have started turning yellow. They turn yellow and fall off and/or are really easy to pluck off.
Sunlight wise, 6am to 7pm full sunlight. I water them for around 30 seconds one day, dont water for one, then water again.
They’re in 5 or 7gallon grow bags. All pepper plants. Mostly the jalapenos but I’ve seen my poblano and cayenne peppers get some too. I’ve applied jacks insecticidal soap and neem oil (a week apart) so I’m not sure what could be the issue.
The bumps are what are on every leaf I’ve plucked off/fallen off.
Was getting the blinds/curtains opened every day. A humidifier was within2 foot of it. It was in a cactus/succulent potting mixture. Watered every other week, if that. Poor thing was doing good until my depression hit hard. Why did it deflate? Never seen that before, and what is with the mold? Do I throw away the planter too?
Been trying to grow some duckweed and water meal. But the watermeal's new and it doesn't show too much of a bad growth but it doesn't seem to be growing. So I'm not certain what's wrong. The duckweed is slowly getting more and more pale leaves so something's wrong there and I think maybe I put too much of the liquid all-purpose plant food of the miracle-gro brand as now there's a bunch of white stuff all over the place. Not certain what that is. I think maybe it's what they call an algae bloom but there's like zero way for me to find out cuz anytime you look up algae bloom you just get rivers and lakes.
I have a heater in one of them as experimental. I don't know, it doesn't seem to be helping though. And air stones in all of them. And my instructions for the watermeal aka Wolffia Globosa Said to lower the light level to pretty low for the first few weeks so I lowered my light things to their lowest setting and the lux app says it's about 300 lux.
They are slowly losing water though. Maybe I should add water. I don't know. For the Wolffia globosa, I only added about two teaspoons of the miracle grow which didn't bloom or fill with white dust stuff. So maybe that's better.
Also, should I do anything special to the water before adding new water to it?
I have two Crassulas - “Curly Green”, and suddenly both of them shed their leaves, practically overnight. I suspect it’s the weather, since it’s been shifting between 40C and 16C for the past few weeks. Is there a way to save them?
I water it about 1 glass every day and keep it in inside my house all time near window. This problem started 2 months ago.
So the garden in my backyard I am continually having this problem each year where a lot of the vine plants like squash and cucumbers start to develop these gray powdery spots all over the leaves they eventually spread to all the leaves and eventually kill the plants? I had someone say that maybe it was powdery mildew and it could be treated with neem oil but I've tried that a couple years ago and had no luck... Wondering how to prevent this if it's even possible at this point
Been away on vacation and asked my friend to take care of my dracena. It’s looking pretty rough and I want to know exactly what to do to get it back to its former self.
I don’t know what’s going on. I believed that it was a drainage problem and made holes larger, but that doesn’t seem to work here. Is there not enough light? I am almost scared to water again. I’m losing my largest longest leaves and I’ve had since a baby🥲 Finished.
I’ve looked through other posts but I don’t see any marigold leaves that are looking exactly like mine. I got these seedlings for free from a neighbourhood group and I have no idea what variety they are. When I planted them they were all green. I know the purple could be from too hot/cold, not enough phosphorus, too much water, fungal disease or they just look like that. But which is it??
Hi everyone, I really need some advice on my Alocasia zebrina. Over the past few weeks I’ve watched my leaves yellow and die off one at a time, starting from the oldest. On top of that, a new leaf emerged about 10 days ago and died before showing any sign of unfurling.
I really don’t know what to do, I always wait for the soil to dry before waterings, the substrate is an aroid mix with perlite, coco coir, bark, potting soil and a little bit of activated charcoal.
Has anyone dealt with a stalled new leaf like this before, or leaves yellowing one after another? Any insight would be really appreciated!
My Warty was repotted recently and watered. I moved her into a sunny window today. Normally in brightly shaded window. 2 hours direct sun during this heat wave.
Does have a smell. How can I fix her up?
I’ve had this Monstera albo since August 2025 and it’s been healthy until recently.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed new brown lesions with yellow halos appearing on multiple leaves. I opted to observe at first as the plant area is regularly maintained with systemic and I have not introduced a new plant to the collection. Existing spots are also enlarging, and it seems like additional existing leaves are developing new spots over time.
Initially I thought it was thrips because I’ve dealt with thrips before and the damage looked suspicious. However:
• I’ve inspected the plant multiple times with a flashlight.
• Checked the tops, undersides, petioles, and stem.
• I cannot find a single adult thrip, larva, or black frass.
• The Monstera growing right beside it just unfurled a completely healthy new leaf with no damage.
• No other nearby plants are showing similar symptoms. In fact the other 2 other monsteras beside it are not exhibiting anything at all.
• I treated my collection with systemic about a month ago as part of routine prevention.
• I water my plants once a week and the foliage doesn't get wet. The roots and stem look healthy.
The lesions are mostly round brown spots with distinct yellow halos. They are flat (not raised), and rubbing the underside does not produce orange/rust-colored powder.
I’m trying to determine whether this looks more like:
• Thrips with an extremely low population,
• Rust fungus,
• Another fungal/bacterial leaf spot,
• Or something else entirely.
I’d really appreciate any thoughts from people who’ve seen this before, as I’d like to identify the cause before deciding on treatment. My plants are regularly maintained and I follow a strict I isolation process when bringing in a new plant (which I have not in that area for a while).
Please be kind, my first time posting here.
Thank you!

My plant just looks so wimpy. Any help is appreciated.
Plant is inside near multiple large south-facing windows during all hours of the day. We get 14 hours of light.
I water it when the soil is dry.
I tried to propagate but I failed and this is what I am left with.
This is as far as I’ve gotten in just about a month. Everybody keeps telling me how easy pothos are to prop and I have not had any success. I never let the water get murky. They are sitting in a very well lit window. I’m so confused.
My basil is a few months old and consists of two plants. The left one has been growing wrinkly leaves with holes tears and browning on some. I checked for pests but couldn’t find any. I usually water once per day. Any advice welcome, i want to save my plant (if something is actually wrong)
