First timer — looking for feedback!
I’m a full-time professional thriller author, so I’m not immune to one-star reviews. Let me have it!
I’ve always wanted to paint landscapes, and arbitrarily chose oil because it seemed “real.” A few months ago I picked up my first brush and starred in on some tutorials/online academies.
Kevin Hill, Michael James Smith, and Andrew Tischler are the paid courses I’ve started (and these paintings are each one of their lessons).
So, my question is if there’s a specific “next step” here. I feel I’ve gotten the basics down: wet-in-wet skies for Kevin Hill’s stuff, imprimaturas for Tisch’s stuff, and generally being really freaking small and detailed for anything MJS 😆 (definitely not there yet).
I’m planning on chugging on, so definitely agree already with the “keep painting!” advice I’ll get — I’m really looking for things you DON’T like. Anything I need to work on specifically? Anything I can change about my fundamentals or technique?
My goal is sort of in-between all three of these guys. Realistic but not hyper-realistic. Bob Ross but not quite as “fantasy.” I’m hoping for a style similar to Tisch’s, honestly. Like a “paianterly realism.”
Thanks in advance for any advice you’ve got!
