Failed Chemistry in WBCHSE, got 76 percentile in JEE, confused between BSc/WBJEE/drop year — need genuine advice
Hi everyone. I really need some genuine advice because I feel completely lost right now.
I’m from West Bengal (WBCHSE board). I always wanted to do engineering and prepared for JEE, but my Class 12 results messed things up badly. I failed in Chemistry, even though my other subjects were much better.....I got 72 percentileeee and 70 percent..350 put of 500 in my boards exam .
My JEE Main percentile is around 76 percentile. I know it’s not amazing, but I genuinely wanted to continue in the engineering path and maybe prepare again seriously next year. I’m also considering WBJEE and CUET options.
Right now WBCAAP admissions have started and I’m confused about EVERYTHING:
\- whether I should take admission somewhere now
\- whether public colleges will reject me because of the Chemistry back
\- whether I should surrender/reappear for Class 12 next academic year
\- whether taking a BSc now while preparing again is smarter
\- whether private colleges are my only option now
\- which government/public colleges in West Bengal I can still realistically target
These are some of the colleges I’m currently looking into:
\- Ashutosh College
\- Bethune College
\- Vidyasagar College
\- Jaipuria College
\- Bagbazar Women’s College
\- Surendranath College
\- IIEST
\- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University/College options
\- Ballygunge Science College related options
\- Prafulla Chandra College
\- Lady Brabourne College
\- Rashtraguru Surendranath College
\- Naihati Rishi Bankim Chandra College
\- Kalyani University
My current plan is:
\- If possible, get into a decent BSc course in one of these colleges through WBCAAP
\- At the same time continue preparing for WBJEE/JEE/CUET seriously
\- Or, if things somehow work out, get into a decent engineering college through WBJEE/CUET itself
I’m open to BSc courses because I still want to stay connected to science/tech, even if my original engineering path got disrupted for now.
Mentally this entire thing has been exhausting because I genuinely studied and had hopes, but now I feel stuck between too many risky choices.
If anyone from WBCHSE/WBJEE/JEE background has gone through something similar:
\- What would you do in my position?
\- Which colleges/courses should I realistically apply for?
\- Is taking a drop worth it here?
\- Can I still recover academically from this situation?
\- Which of the colleges above are actually worth prioritizing?
\- am i doomed
\- should i forget about Engeneering, Betch, Cse, Ece nd stuff. .
\-i always wanted to go to IIT ..is it now a untouchable dream for me.
Please be brutally honest but also practical. I really need guidance right now....
